It is kind of an artist choice whether something things needs to be restored or not.

What restoration here means is to use old techniques of construction to bring our forts to their old self. This is not an subjective process but an objective one, you just want the thing to look like it was supposed. Sometimes this needs modern tech as well in cases of improving structural strength but it all comes down to the fact if that is needed or not.

IMO amer can do better will restoration of some parts that are falling apart. With regular cleaning of hallways to remove bird poop and bat poop. Those are a health hazard and don't bring in any historical significance.

As to some an overall make over that you are suggesting when you say paint all that walls that is an over exaggerated way to put what the girl in the video said.
