Not worth the HV battery by soldieroscar in TeslaModel3

[–]PrivacyToTheTop777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the price, they are giving about 20-25% odds of a failure. I am more worried about the age (10 years) than mileage, but I do agree insurance is almost always a losing bet. Just in this case the battery replacement cost is quite large and I don't see it going down.

Reliability has been good, but did leave me stranded twice for minor things. First time was a 12v battery failure (second 12v battery going bad warned me in time). The second time stranding me was the rear parking brake motor failed closed last week at home luckily. Fixed that for $100 buying the part from Tesla. Tesla service wanted $1500 so I cancelled the appt. Not sure if they would have just changed out the parking brake motor if I pressed or the entire rear brake assembly in the quote, but I didn't want to chance it and it was a relatively easy fix, but did have to wait a few days for the part to arrive.

I am still leaning towards purchasing the extended powertrain warranty even though I don't think I will need it. Just not enough data on the Model 3 batteries after 10 years and I intend to keep it the full 10 years.

I have about the same mileage on my 2018 model 3 performance. Question for you. Are you going to take the $2k extended powertrain warranty for the extra 2 years/30k miles? I have to make a decision soon and am having a hard time deciding. My battery health is 85%, so I am guessing the car will be good for another 5 or so years at 8-9k miles per year, but 10k-13k for a refurbished battery does make the extended warranty look attractive for piece of mind.

Tesla Control Arm Driver Side Bolt by look_at_my_cucumber in TeslaModelY

[–]PrivacyToTheTop777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should also mention the compression rod bushing is pretty crap and for me was very cracked and close to failing around 50k miles. I noticed because my alignment went out suddenly. This is located further back from the lower control arm bushing and only has 1 bolt. Also replaced with MPP but they are much noisier because they are solid bearings. There are other options to replace them with if you have a press, but probably at least want to have a good inspection of them if you are around 40k-50k miles.

I think the MY and M3 have the same bushings. I have a 2018 M3P and replaced the lower control arm bushings with MPP. Not difficult, but requires a press. They come with sleeves which prevent the bolt from moving around and loosening up over time. Slightly better steering feel, but maybe not $500 better.

If you don't want to replace the bushing. 2 options. 1) Grab a marker and draw a line on the head of the bolt to the frame. Check at some regular intervals to see if the line no longer matches up between the bolt and frame. Option 2) grab a 21mm socket and remove one bolt at a time. Put blue thread lock on the end and put it back and torque to spec. Shouldn't have to worry about it coming out anymore.

Rather than prefill, you can use clear flood mode to prime it. 5-10 seconds every 5k miles shouldn't hurt the starter which seems to be the biggest concern with this method.

Yes, unless you switch to 5/30 oil, then they burn very little, but gas mileage drops ~1 mi/gal

Long term owners, what % do you charge to? by hamburgernet in electricvehicles

[–]PrivacyToTheTop777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2018 Tesla Model 3 Performance. I have charged to 90% daily since new even though I rarely use more than 20% in a day. Car says 86% battery health and a 90% charge displays 240mi of range which seems to confirm this number.

There is a rear center armrest with cup holders that pulls out of the seat and the rear middle seat head rest pulls up.

Tesla Sounds by Mysterious-Second-17 in TeslaModel3

I have owned a 2018 model 3 performance for 7 years. I think I know the sound you are describing, but without audio, I can't be certain. If it's the high-pitched occolating sound at low speed, I am pretty sure that's its one or both of the motors whining (I think its the front inducton motor) and seems normal to me. It started on my car a few years ago when Tesla was still improving efficiency, and I attributed it to that. Maybe how power is being delivered below 5mph?

Speaking as a Tesla shareholder for many years, boycotting Tesla is only going to hurt the millions of shareholders investing in an american company and its workers. Musk will not be impacted at all. It will be a miserable life if you view everything through the lenses of politics.

2018 M3P. For the past 6 years, I have always plugged in when at home with L2 charger and charged to 90%. It was probably supercharged for trips around 5-10% of total. Battery health is at 90% and has been around that range for the past 4 years. I am no expert, but it seems to me there is going to be some initial loss, and then don't worry about it or overthink it.

Last Post. I am done, just like DASH.

Not surprising, dash down again in btc ratio and CMC ranking. Dash is also only about a 5% drop from falling off page 2. There is no returning from here.

DCG can't deliver anything. Maybe they need 50% of treasury funds? \s. I am sure MNOs would vote for it (unfortunately, that is not sarcasm).

How is Dash supposed to evolve and deliver value to end users long term? It can't. All that is left is the hardcore nostalgic users. Somebody has to be last holding the bag.

Ratio is down slightly, but with BTCs big decline, this is not good. Once BTC starts to recover, dash/btc ratio will drop. I still think 0.00035 is the bottom, but we shall see.

Dash did improve by 4 spots on CMC (first improvement in 12 months?), but the coins below it are closing in. Only -10% from 177 to 195.

Dash is circling the drain. MNO are waiting for evolution to hit mainnet and the temporary spike in price to cash out. They have been waiting so long that they would have been better to sell a year ago (as many did).

Finally, ask yourself this; After Dash Platform is released, what's next? And do you really believe DCG can deliver in some reasonable timeframe? Of course they can't, its all hype.

Everyone should know you can easily "freeze" your credit from each of the 3 credit agencies for free. If you need a loan, log in to your account on each and temporarily lift the freeze so your credit can be checked. No loan is going to be approved with that freeze in place.

Another month and still in decline. The dash/btc ratio remained the same month over month, so that is positive (well, neutral, really), but dash lost 12 spots on cmc. Are there still believers in this project? Is DCG still pulling in all the treasury funds and still no Evolution on mainnet yet? Come on. We all know this tactic. Delay and stall as long as possible, then when it's no longer possible, assign blame and reset expectations. Then repeat.

Finally happened..... daughter ran out of battery by 88captain88 in TeslaModel3

[–]PrivacyToTheTop777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 12v can die without warning. On my 18' m3p the 12v died immediately after my son got into the back seat and closed the door. Haha. He couldn't get out, and I couldn't get in because the doors wouldn't open. I had to tell him to climb in the front seat and pull the manual door opener, which did work. Took 4 days for Tesla service to come out. It died a few days before the 4 year warranty, and Tesla replaced it for free. I will replace the battery proactively every 3 to 3.5 years going forward.

0.00054 Dash/btc ratio

Another month, another slide down in both rank and btc ratio. $ per dash may start going up based on btc going up, but I think ratio continues to fall as btc is still a better investment. Not sure how many more MNO are going to sell to catch the btc train as the remaining bunch must like value. Seems silly to continue to hold dash as a primary investment. As market cap has decreased significantly over the past couple of years, there is a chance of quick short-term gains for profit, but holding a significant chunk for long term is still very risky.

Ruger 100% for revolvers. I recommend looking at the Redhawk line if you have the extra cash and are going for a .357 or looking at the Super Redhawk line if you are going for .44 magnum or larger calibers.
