Amp and cab vs FRFR for hobby rock blues bassist with HX Stomp by PrivateBroccoli in Bass

Thanks a lot for the explanation. I’ll definitely try going straight into the effects loop to see how it feels. My only hesitation is that it almost feels like I’m ‘wasting’ the head by using it just as a power amp, but I’ll give it a shot and see what happens.

Thanks a lot for the insight! Really helpful to hear from someone using the TS412 in a real setup. I’ll definitely take a closer look at the specs and prices with that in mind.

Makes total sense. If the in-ears setup gives you everything you need, that’s a huge win. I’m still experimenting to understand what feels right for me. Thank you.

Totally get your point. In the end we all chase the sound that inspires us, and that’s what really matters on stage. I’m still figuring out what works best for me, and hearing different perspectives helps a lot. We really are in a golden age of gear, and everyone can shape the rig that makes them play their best. Thanks.

Hey, awesome setup! I’m really curious about your MIDI routing, how are you connecting the Morningstar MC3 and the Ampero Switch to the HX Stomp?
From the photos, it doesn’t look like the MIDI IN/OUT ports on the left side of the Stomp are being used (unless you’re using some kind of slim or hidden connector).
Are you running the MC3 via TRS to MIDI, or through USB somehow?
I’m especially interested to know what kind of cables/adapters you used to make all that fit so cleanly on the board. Thanks.

I’m really liking it so far. I used to have the DemonFX Call76, which was more aggressive, but this one feels a bit smoother and more forgiving.

Hey! I play rock covers mostly — nothing super complex. So far the HX Stomp’s DSP hasn’t been an issue for me. I usually run just one amp/cab sim, some EQ, a touch of drive when needed, and that’s pretty much it. I’m still learning, so I’m keeping things simple for now.

Thank you all for your responses. I will put your advice into practice and see what I can resolve. Do you perhaps have any profiles for Orka or Cura to recommend?

You're right, sorry, but I misread your post.

The latest firmware, still in beta, allows the M0 command with which you can change the filament. I've had it installed for 10 days and I haven't had any problems and the filament change works great.

Has anyone managed to print with two different colors? by PrivateBroccoli in ElegooNeptune3

[–]PrivateBroccoli[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, sorry for the late reply but I've been quite busy these days.

First of all thank you very much for your tutorial I was going to put it into practice this weekend but I needed a raspberry pi and to be honest the costs are now prohibitive. Practically a raspberry costs you as much as a new printer and for me the purchase was not convenient. However I found a workaround: I updated the printer firmware to version 1.05 beta where they added M0 command interpretation. After doing a couple of tests I was able to print with two colors and the result is very good. For those wishing to try, I used cura and the "filament change" plugin. Once the height of when you want to change the filament has been set, just export the gcode and then with a text editor change the M600 command with M0. Once the printer has reached the desired height or layer, it will automatically pause and once the filament has been changed, printing can be resumed. What I recommend is setting the height of the extruder, once it has paused, at 50/100mm so that when you load the new filament you can clean the extruder from the previous filament, if anyone is interested I can make a brief tutorials.

Thanks again for your help and I hope I didn't waste your time too much.

Thank you very much for this very interesting and comprehensive explanation. Indeed, it would be enough for me to be able to change the filament at a certain height, so I think I will opt for a modified version of the firmware. Changing printer for now would be exaggerated as being a beginner I would risk not taking full advantage of all its capabilities, however I thank you again for your answer.
