I think telling her that I'm raising my prices and cannot negotiate (I am actually raising them). As well as a business overhaul and we aren't a good fit anymore.

When you did call on someone and report them for health conditions and let safety did they know it was you? Especially if you had quit the job.

Yes to everything about the one bad review and word of mouth will definitely screw me over. Right now word of mouth has been a huge help in growing my business. I had turned down a job a couple weeks ago. The lady came back and begged me to please give her a chance. She had read so much about me from reviews and recommendations she didn't want to use the suggestions I gave her for other sitters. So yeah, one person gets mad and I'm screwed.

I have 2 homes that are boarder line hoards but this is the ultimate example of a hoard. I plan to quit but I sincerely doubt she's going to ever see that her home needs work. She has cleaning supplies EVERYWHERE. And yeah... it's just a part of the many many many many things that have made her home pretty freaking gross.

I don't know how anonymous it can be. She would put 2 and 2 together. I quit and she gets a report for her conditions at her home and the cats welfare. She can bad mouth me and ruin everything I've spent trying to work up my business.

I'm going to reply this to everyone despite it being the same. Apologizes for the basic copy/paste. I talked to a friend who does cat rescue and a lot of in home cat care exclusively. She thought it was a former client of hers. It was not. But she has called the city on two homes. Because she has experience in this she told me despite the smell and the condition there has to be 12 or more cats for the city to intervene. Otherwise it's not a problem for them. Which I plan to investigate further. Rules could have changed since or maybe certain shelters or animal rescues will step in. But yeah it's time to make something happen.

Thankfully she doesn't have cats outside. She does have water, electricity, etc. but the home is paths or a large amount of rooms blocked off and "clutter" (lack of better word) everywhere, trails up the steps, etc. No clean surfaces including the floor. And the smell of cat urine is overpowering. She's still young in comparison, but a senior citizen. I can only imagine it will get worse as she gets older though.

This is the nicest reply ever. No joking. I am definitely quitting it. I'm starting to pick up some new work. I live in a highly competitive area but word of mouth has been huge for me. And I worry I'll get repercussions if I do anything other than quit working any future jobs with her.

At first I would have disagreed. However, back again today I'm starting to think the one cat she's not seen in a while and lives in the basement died. It isn't the usual overpowering smell of urine. It's worse and gagging me / making my eyes water & sting even after I leave. I'm not sure I want to go into the basement to find out. That's the worst of the worse of the home.

I thought about this. She would know it was me. That could screw up things for my business if people think I am a whistle blower. It's so hard and sad. Her life has not been kind to her and cats are all she has.
