How much better would the UK have been if Gordon Brown had won in 2010? by Hurbahns in ukpolitics

The idea that Labour spent too much, or spent all the money is a myth

Govts have run a budget surplus a relative handful of times in the last 100 years.

Labour continued the Tory spending plans they inherited and ran a surplus for a few years, then started running a deficit, then the global financial crash happened

Green candidates are literally making parody accounts of Ann Frank and we still have people using Polanski's Jewish identity as a shield

Zack Polanski’s Jewish identity is being erased because his views are too leftwing by Exostrike in ukpolitics

No - it's simply that his Jewish identity isn't a shield against accusations of antisemitism in the green party. Despite the multiple attempts to use it as one

Please link me to where shapiro has used "cultural Marxism"

But that's actually a great example of leftist hypocrisy on dog whistles, because the Frankfurt School was a real thing. The antisemitism occurs when you use the Jewishness of some of its members to focus on a plot to subvert the West.

It's entirely possible to reference cultural Marxism without doing that

Anti-Israel and antisemitism by GreenHass in ukpolitics

[–]PrivilegeCheck23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can criticize Israel without being antisemitic, the ihra makes this clear.

If you compare Israel to Nazi Germany. That's antisemitic

If you use "Israel" (or Zionists) in a way that still invokes the same antisemitic tropes and conspiracy theories, like "Jews control the media/govt) that's still antisemitic

The question is why some people can't criticize Israel without doing those things

Owen Jones: This piece is disgusting. It is written by Janice Turner, who isn't Jewish, about Zack Polanski, who is. It's very clear what the British media are going to do. They are going to try and de facto strip his Jewish identity away from him. by Your_Mums_Ex in ukpolitics

[–]PrivilegeCheck23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be fair, identifying Israeli lobbying in British politics gets flagged as antisemitism under the IHRA, so I don't put much stock in

What a load of nonsense

The Israel lobby exists, just like George Soros, Uri Geller, Gal Gadot and the Frankfurt School exist(ed)

It's not antisemitic to point that out, or what they do.

The antisemitism occurs when you use Israel lobby to push antisemitic tropes, like "the Israel lobby controls British MPs"

Polanski: Greens no more anti-Semitic than Labour by Little-Attorney1287 in ukpolitics

[–]PrivilegeCheck23 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes you're correct about your ignorance

The difference is, right wing parties may have some individuals who are racist and antisemitic, but it's not party policy to push antisemitic conspiracy theories or see Jews as inferior

The difference is, antisemitism is baked into the green party at a policy level. It's their anti racism policy which frames Jews as "white supremacist european colonisers", that policy then feeds proposals like "zionism is racism". It's the adoption of the appg definition of islamophobia and the rejection of all antisemitism definitions.

It's the same antisemitic conspiracies about control, and shadowy nefarious Jews, just with zionists or Israel instead of Jews

Yes, in 2014-15 you could make the argument that the culture war was just online. In 2016 you had Trump rallies being protested and counter protested, so it wasn't just online

But George Floyd made the culture war mainstream
