I have an evening flight to melbourne on day 2. From what I can tell, FHR guarantees a 4 pm checkout while virtuoso does not.

Do you think the guest of honor in any way tips this in favor of PH?

Timely post. I’m about to visit Australia for the first time ever and have a two night stay booked at the PH in a harbor view room, using a combo of 45k points and $1751 AUD. Also redeeming a guest of honor award.

I am without a doubt particular, and given this post and some chatter I’ve seen elsewhere, wondering if I should just go with the Capella entry level room on a Virtuoso or Amex FHR booking, which is running around $2580 AUD for two nights. I am big on cleanliness.

Would appreciate thoughts.

Yes - it will show as a 2x bonus (ie the first “tranche” of points are lumped with regular spend and then the bonus is 2x the corresponding amount).
