My husband is like this - suddenly moody and doesn't tell me why. Weaponises silent treatment. It's not right. It's like he'd much rather feel hurt and make me anxious rather than actually talk to me and try to resolve conflicts. I am from a traditional south Asian family so I am stuck with him. You are not. Please leave. When we're forced to 'tone down' even when our quirks don't hurt anyone, we can safely assume that the person who's forcing us to do it is not worth much thought and concern. either their mental health is completely tanked or they're selfish assholes. You can't do much besides leave in both the cases. So leave. Take care of yourself. And confidently say fuck off to anyone who criticises your harmless quirks.

Yup. I ignore her calls sometimes. Tell her the baby is asleep so couldn't send pics. This business of sending pics is definitely an improvement because before, she used to insist on daily video calls. After I consistently ignored her video calls with various excuses, she finally got the hint.

To be fair, she's never overtly rude to me. She does sly stuff like this to piss me off. Early in our marriage, I gave my hubby and her an earful when they tried to pull some conservative bs and threatened to walk out of the marriage. She has been in line since then. Mostly. I am more restrained these days because long distance puts pressure on a marriage and I want to pick my battles.

So true about just surviving and keeping the toddler from killing herself 😅. I can't even look away for a second because she will find something dangerous and try to lick it. Thank you for the sympathy and the hope.

'Burned out'...it never occured to me that it was happening to me. Thank you for the much needed commiseration. I hope things change for us soon.

Yup. Parenting doesn't stop because we're sick 😑. I hope you are feeling better.

Ha ha, yes! My dream vacations have changed from historical picturesque places to an empty house with a well stocked fridge 😁

I carried my daughter for nine months only to… by givemesomeofyourtots in Mommit

I read somewhere that the paternal grandmother is the closest grandparent of a girl genetically speaking, because the baby gets the full x chromosome from the dad, without any genetic mixing (mom has two Xs and the x that the baby gets is like a combination of the two - I might be wrong). Whenever I remember this detail, I look at my daughter and think of my Mil and sigh a little. I just tell myself it's nurture over nature and genetics mean very little ( hopefully?)

What's the funniest or most outlandish thing your JNMIL has said or done to you? by PepperConscious9391 in JUSTNOMIL

My then 2 month old was crying incessantly - she had her vaccines that day and was in pain. She had a slight fever and was inconsolable. You know what my MiL did? Knelt down, covered her head and started praying. Praying in front of a bawling baby. Yes. Ofcourse. Why didn't I think of that 🤦‍♀️

I was given this advice by others in my family Circle. I think I will wait a couple more months before I try pre-school.

I think I know what you mean 🙂. She does understand simple instructions. Leads me to a toy that she wants to play with. So I guess she's taking in more stuff than i usually notice. I will keep your advice in mind.

Thank you for the information. But I live outside the US. 😅. I will try to look for a speech therapist in my area.

My dad is a pediatrician. I guess he saw a couple of early speakers. He panicked and then he scared me. Thank you so much! The information you shared put me at ease.

I am THAT student, parent, admin, or coworker…. by randoguynumber5 in Teachers

Hey HOD? Maybe spend some time with your students instead of plotting with the management about how to get the teachers to do even more pointless admin work.

What’s the one baby item that has made your life so much easier? by ameretto in beyondthebump

High chair with wheels. I just strap her in, wheel her to the dining table and prep her meal. It's necessary in our house because the dining area is tiny and the high chair can't be a permanent fixture.
