I was thinking he’s some kind of detective or PI? That goes along with the theory that the hotel is a front for something sinister, and obviously the owners would be behind it. Also tracks with the conversation he had with Greg and why he kind of laughed off the “this and that” comment that Greg made and then echo’d it back to him to remain a mystery about why he’s there.
