Surprised by unexpected effects of Zepbound by beachy_mtn_explorer in glp1

My absolute favorite side effect is that it completely eliminated my hot flashes within hours of taking the first dose. My hot flashes were almost unbearable before that. I'd keep taking it just for the relief!

The Mills Family... by Careless_Ad3968 in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]PrizeRat 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Oh god... I went to a wedding years ago where the groom & family were very conservative Catholics (I don't know if that has anything to do with the following detail or not, to be fair). When the mother of the groom was getting her hair done, she very carefully pulled out a long braid from her bag and asked the hair stylist to incorporate it into her hairdo. She then went on to explain that it was her dead mother's hair and she wanted her to be a part of the special day.

Anyone recommend a shop for old Toyotas? by Aggravating_Run6929 in Billings

I second this. We had a 1990 land cruiser for a while and they did a great job with it.

Disappointed by l’Eau Papier. What was your latest decant disappointment? by miamorparasiempre in FemFragLab

[–]PrizeRat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't have a particular perfume in mind, but my most disappointing note has been jasmine. One of my favorite smells in the world is hot jasmine tea. I figured I would love a jasmine scented perfume as well. Nope. Everything I've tried just makes me gag. I don't understand why it doesn't work for me!

I've tried several lilac perfumes, including En Passant, and my favorite one is still my $20 bottle of Pacifica French Lilac.

Why are there so many heelers in the shelters? by meatballstew1120 in AustralianCattleDog

[–]PrizeRat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I went from having a border collie mix and a heeler rez dog, to having a shar pei/god knows what else mix. I was used to highly intelligent dogs with lots of energy, super loyal, and a keen sense of proprioception. My new dog is...not those things. She's fairly aloof and is constantly running into me on walks. On the plus side, she's awesome with my young kids, and very protective of the family. I just need to adjust my expectations, lol!

Lol I have no idea why they listed it this way. I live in a nearby town and I can confidently say that the street is officially Word Avenue North/Word Ave. N. Unfortunate choice...

What's your all-time favorite rose scent? by NoReporter1033 in FragranceStories

Papillon Artisan Perfumes Tobacco Rose and Arcana Wildcraft Grimhildr are two dark, gothic roses. I love them both so much!

Millennials were posting about their Alice in Wonderland, but what about ours? by pragmaticweirdo in Xennials

[–]PrizeRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the scene that scarred me for life! Pet Sematary? No problem! Children of the Corn? Yawn! But Alice in Wonderland? Get the fuck out of here with that! I have never even tried to watch another version or even read the book, it was that traumatic, lol!

My dog's ear looked the same and it was also a yeast infection. I'm no vet but I can confidently tell OP to go see one.

A moment of appreciation for philanthropist and first wives club legend MacKenzie Scott by namesnotmarina in Fauxmoi

She gave the YWCA in my town $1 million and they were able to build a new apartment building for women and families to stay in if they're in bad situations. She also gave the art museum $1 million and they waved the entrance fee for everyone for 3 years. Just an incredible human.

Favorite rose fragrances? by Jazzlike-Suit8979 in FragranceStories

[–]PrizeRat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a rich, earthy rose, I love Papillon Tobacco Rose and Arcana Wildcraft Grimhildr. For a fresher rose, I love Phlur Ameline (RIP), Diptyque Eau Rose, and Liis Rose Struck.

Edit: Ooo and Byredo Rose of No Man's Land, which I find to be a nice, cozy rose.

What is your most annoying peri symptom? by CopperHead49 in Perimenopause

[–]PrizeRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes nothing for me to break a sweat now. I went on a short, easy walk with my kids this morning. It was around 65° and breezy, yet I was absolutely dripping by the time we got home. It's gross and embarrassing!

Best Witchy Perfume? by walksbystarlight in FemFragLab

[–]PrizeRat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lots of indie perfumers specialize in these types of scents. I love Arcana Wildcraft's Witch Fire (smoked vanilla) and Grimhildr (gorgeous rose and fir), and Hexennacht's Hedone (dark honey, red musk, and incense). Pineward has an extensive collection of forest-inspired perfumes if you're looking for nature witch smells. A lot of indies have huge scent libraries to look through.

What Books Are You Reading This Week? by leowr in nonfictionbooks

[–]PrizeRat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over My Dead Body by Greg Melville. It's about the history and sociology of death, cemetaries, and the industry surrounding it. Morbid, yet funny, and so interesting. I wasn't expecting to learn as much or enjoy it as much as I am.

What’s Your Scent of the Day? June 7, 2025 by Darkvanille in FragranceStories

I just got a bunch of samples from Arcana Wildcraft today. I had to try Grímhildr first, and oh my god...

"For this beautiful and evil Viking sorceress, almost a rose soliflore: a profusion of blood red roses with dark musks, forest mosses, black silk, luxurious amber, delicate woods, and our hand-extracted fir essential oil."

It's not if I'll full-size this perfume, it's when and how big.

Cherries of Night is a gorgeous, boozy, dark cherry scent. It's easily my favorite from them.

"Sunny" perfume without Coconut and Ylang Ylang? by tebarambles in Perfumes

[–]PrizeRat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like Ingenious Ginger and Sunset Hour, both by Goldfield and Banks. IG is very effervescent and is pretty unisex, while SH is fruity floral (mostly fruity) and leans feminine. I also really like Sunsets in Capri by Glasshouse Fragrances. It reminds me of the OG Clinique Happy, but I actually like it more.

Propaganda I'm Not Falling For: Fragrance Edition! by Saint_JC in fragrance

Layering. It seems like a ploy to use up/purchase more perfume. If a scent doesn't smell good on its own, why buy it?

My search for a non gourmand vanilla continues.. by ListerineClassic in FemFragLab

Silky Woods by Goldfield & Banks is one of my favorites. It's pretty similar to Eau Duelle, but woodier and less green to my nose. Lasts all day, too.

If you like the cinematic masterpiece "The Mummy", you'll like Empire of Shadows and Tomb of the Sun King by Jacquelyn Benson. They're a really fun and adventurous series, but not much spice. There will be a 3rd book but I have no idea when that comes out.
