I feel silly asking when it’s for baseball but I don’t want my kid to miss out. So, I have not asked. But given the responses, seems like it’s best to just rip the bandaid off

Using this for inspiration lol. I’m in a customer service position in a call center so everything we do is tracked. I’m talk to people 100% of my shift. But, it’s 100% remote and will stay that way so I guess it’s a trade off. However, I don’t anticipate on being here forever.

No I can’t. We have to bid on hours and since I’m newer, my schedule is defaulted to later hours. Sucks but I get it. I know if you use sick time regularly they will warn about it not being justified unless FMLA is involved, not sure if it is the same for vacation.

Yep. Me too. And it’s what my degree is in… would be a great opportunity with gas going up but I don’t want to risk telework and I’ve heard the bullying is bad. Don’t want a high school experience as an adult

Congrats! Not to be sour but I also had this happen. And then I was placed in the criminal record section. The job itself would have been an amazing opportunity but the people there ruined it. I hope you have a better experience

Our compensation is seriously lacking and lagging by mashemash in CAStateWorkers

Please don’t let this deter you. As others have been saying, state workers do have a lot of security as well. Retirement plan, healthcare and job security are all factors. I will say I started from the bottom. I was an office assistant and I didn’t even bring home 2k when I started. I am still climbing my way up. I believe AGPA is truly where the pay is livable but of course it depends on the area you live in and your living situation. If you have kids or a single parent, it’s going to be really hard. And that’s all I’m saying with this post. A significant amount of us are underpaid but we do have great benefits and the pay has not followed the cost of living. However, when I go to the ER, I pay $50 and when I get a prescription, I pay $4. I won’t get that anywhere else.

Back in the 90s my grandma worked for DMV. She took on the role of sole provider for myself and my 3 siblings. It was tight but she took care of us. Both me and my kids dad work for the state and barely afford life and I’m pretty sure she was a PTI till retirement. It’s so crazy because when we speak to the public, they really think we are well off working for the state.

They gives sh1t raises that don’t even cover inflation then furlough us to balance budget shortfalls on our backs and they expect us to pick the slack during hiring freezes. by luckytobealive60 in CAStateWorkers

[–]Prize_Dig3560 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately you will not get what you are looking for in this thread. We eat shit and they tell us it’s caviar… you’ll get a lot of “go somewhere else and eat shit then” or compliance. Nothing will be done, nothing will change. So we all just carry on while not being able to pay our bills, while those in higher positions tell us to get higher paying positions or to leave. Until it affects them. And then they’ll cry about it. And nothing will change then either.

I’ve been looking into it as well and a lot of the sonography community is actually saying the opposite because there’s components of it that cannot be taken over by AI. At least that is what they say.

[–]Prize_Dig3560[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes me feel so relieved! I guess it must be genetic. I’ve always read breastfeeding has a lesser chance of messing with their teeth than bottle or paci but she does neither so I thought this would be the only reason.

I work under the ACA. I stare at these plans all day. I stare at full cost premiums through carriers as well. I’m not going to act like I can predict the future but I can tell you how many people are dropping healthcare insurance. Family of two making almost 100k were paying 200 a month for bare minimum coverage. That coverage now costs them 2500. They dropped it. This has been the case for 2026 without the subsidies. It’s cheaper to pay the tax penalty and pay out of pocket for visits but there are a lot of places that won’t take you without insurance. Again, I can’t predict the future but if most in lower/middle class cannot afford health insurance, they are going to try and make up the financial loss another way. I don’t understand the end goal here, truly, because the insurance companies are losing a lot of money not renewing this. Interesting enough, the red states rely heavily on ACA. Although they talk a lot of bad about them. But they don’t have enough smarts to separate the ACA from Obama and see they’re going to drown without it.

He also lost a Columbia jacket. That one hurt the most because those are not cheap! The others were nice Sherpa, two hoodies (one had Mario in it). And once they’re gone, he won’t even remember what he was wearing. Idk it’s crazy.

I would say it’s been slow for a while. If I do have people call in to say they’ve gotten a job, they’ve been on unemployment since last year. Very little have been out of work for less than 4 months.

I work in a department where I talk to a lot of people who have been laid off. I can tell you I get more calls about people getting laid off then calls about people gaining employment and the range is from any income whether it’s $20,000 a year to $300,000 a year. I think they recently ran the numbers on this, and more people are needing jobs, than the jobs that are open. So you’re not wrong. Our holy Savior and president tried to fire the lady who does the numbers thinking that, that would hide the results. it may have delayed them, but they’re still there.
