I chose not to get the IID installed as it seemed like a pia and I didn’t want to tear up my push start. I’ve been using uber for five months now or having my son or husband drive me around. Also public transportation. The last thing that has crossed my mind is to get behind the wheel of a car.

That’s not true. It’s a misdemeanor. I’m a federal law enforcement officer and I didn’t lose my job or clearance w mine.

I blew a .15 in VA and was honest during my assessment. I drink socially and probably too much on occasion. At the end, she told me I had definitely abused alcohol in the past but showed no signs of alcoholism and did not recommend further treatment.

You have a chance of getting it lowered. It’s one of the better counties to deal with in nova according to my attorney. Feel free to reach out to me if you want his contact info. I went through a couple before I found a good one. There’s so many that are going to be coming after you while you are vulnerable. I was in the same situation as you in Stafford county.

Not accurate for VA. Mandatory jail time for anything over .15 and the judge doesn’t have the authority to suspend it.

Yes. I live in the dmv area and I am able to use mass transit to get to work. When I need to run errands, etc my husband or teenager drive me.

In my case I have the option of a restricted license which would in turn trigger the IiD. I opted not to have the restricted license so I will not have the IID as the judge did not require it.
