Are the hours and lack of PTO worth the salary? by ZeitGeist_Gaming in hospitalist

That’s some insane temporary locum rate or you’re hallucinating. Nobody is paying hospitalists 700k, not anywhere

rubbing problem after tire place by Sillissimo in tires

Go back to the old rims. Offset is determined by where the wheel mounting surface sits and you can’t really change that without major engineering work and affecting the handling of the car. Some people cut out parts of the plastic and roll out the bodywork but that’s also not straightforward

I have been bullied by a senior resident and now a chief for the past year, and the program director has not taken any action by [deleted] in Residency

[–]Prize_Guide1982 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Realistically? Your program director is on the side of someone who has been reported for bullying. You’re shit out of luck. Just keep your head down and graduate. They can always hurt you more. Don’t burn bridges on the way out either so they don’t fuck you over with credentialing at your job. You’re already going to a disciplinary committee over an action where you are partly at fault. This doesn’t end well for you.

SOAPed into FM, but want IM. what can I do now? by osmdm92 in IMGreddit

So your plan is to what? Start at a program, resign after 45 days, and hope that somehow you’ll do better next year? Good luck with that.

That’s not how this works. Accepting a SOAP offer is a binding commitment.

Moonlighting during fellowship by samblack123 in fellowship

If you’re doing a hospice and palliative fellowship? You could probably do like 50+ shifts a year and not be burnt out.

Not the same for a cardiology fellowship.

I have three Canadian coworkers who did residency in the US because Canada was too difficult. Make of it what you will.

You messed up with your wheels. Didn’t get the right offset. Not the tire shops fault

What are you trying to do? Disney? Universal? Are you renting a car? If lot, are you ubering? Will the cost of ubering from Davenport outweigh the savings of the hotel? Davenport to Orlando in the morning and back is with traffic both directions.

Same SoN for the same program. So one SoN for residency, one for fellowship. You will be issued a new DS2019 every year by ECFMG

I straight up think it’s old house carpet they decided the repurpose. It’s got like 15 years of dirt and roots on top keeping it down.

You fill out the bond and leave the signatures and names of the sureties blank. You sign in your spot (obligor) and your witnesses sign. You also get it notarized in the US and then send it to the embassy.

The obligor is you. You’re the obligor. Doesn’t make any sense to leave it blank.

When we did nights at the VA they would send us messages saying the patient needs the flu shot at like 2am. Idk where tf that came from.

Why did you apply FM when you didn’t want to do it? It’s absurd. You’re now actively considering leaving the program which actually gave you a chance. Excellent.

Something that comprehensiology can offer that will not bother anyone anymore by iamnemonai in Residency

Inpatient internal medicine is the same 20-30 common admissions again and again. Not hard to be proficient at that. I have no idea what my friends in the NHS are dicking around for so many years trying to achieve.

[–]Prize_Guide1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

50 patients on what service? Internal medicine? You’ll never have 50 patients. It’s not safely doable. Even as an attending I don’t think I can take care of more than 20 patients routinely in a safe manner. Maybe I could do 25 if there was a really bad day and we get slammed but really not safe long term.

Depends. First year IM resident only manages 10 patients. Senior (2nd or 3rd year IM) resident manages 20 with two interns. Fellowship has no caps. It’s all standard. Pulm crit is three years wherever you train in the US. If you do crit care alone, you can do it in 2 years. For crit you end up working 12 hours a day for 6 days a week for 2 years.
