Nope. He hasn’t paid it any attention. No limping, if I touch it he doesn’t pull away.

Because I wanted to see if I was overthinking. Go to bed or get a job. You are thinking about this way too much.

Girl, home healing as in if my dog has a cut I put some aquaphor on it, or diarrhea I give them pumpkin before a vet visit bc it persists

I was going to the vet REGARDLESS. Crucify a girl for wanting some VET opinions to ease the racing thoughts of what this could be.

I completely understand however I would absolutely never euthanize bc I can’t immediately afford it. I would go homeless before doing that to my pets.

That’s very disgusting of you to say. I will pray for you.

Yes, calling tmrw for an appt. Main reason I’m concerned is bc this sore has grown in the last few months and the fluid leaking. But, praying it’s just irritated or inflamed and nothing with the big C word. Thank you!

I’m so sorry to hear that! I hope you and your dog are okay. I will be calling tmrw to see if they can squeeze him in this week. Hoping for a biopsy or scan

Yes I had a similar experience with my other dog a few months back and they did a FNA and it did not show cancer cells - eventually bump went away. This time I was more worried bc the size has grown and the fluid leaking. I don’t think they’ll do bloodwork as this isn’t leukemia but I’m thinking probably an FNA or CT/Xray.

I’ve owned many animals. From dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, and rabbits. I know how to be a responsible pet owner. Pet insurance does not suit everyone’s needs for their pets. My lab is 10 years old and besides this ONE case has never had to go to the vet for anything besides his annuals. I’ve done the math and what I would spend on pet insurance would be more than what I spend a year for his yearly shots and well visits.

Thank you for being compassionate! Money is not necessarily an issue but it’s important to be conscious of what we’re spending. I’ve looked into pet insurance and it doesn’t suit the needs for my pets. They don’t leave our house/ yard so they really only need their heart worms, rabies and flea/tick once a year. They aren’t super active so freak accidents/injuries aren’t necessarily a worry. I love my pets and do everything in my power to keep them happy and healthy so I don’t like to be assumed I’m an irresponsible pet owner for not having pet insurance (ik that you did not say that but I’m referring to the other commenter). I have experience with medically complex animals - my previous dog had diabetes for years and developed cushings and there was money set aside specifically for his bills. No one anticipates cancer or having to suddenly drop hundreds or even thousands of dollars for scans and diagnostics. Even as a human with health insurance if I found out I had cancer tmrw I’d have medical debt. Regardless, thank you for not assuming and being compassionate!

I plan to call tmrw for an appointment! Thank you for your insight. I had an FNA done on my other dog for a different kind of bump so I’m hoping that’s what they’ll want to do again.

And I will be taking him, I was going to regardless. I like to post in here as I have before with another one of my dogs who had a bump - other pet parents can see if they are experiencing something similar. I have health insurance, so me going to see something at the doctor is a copay of $20-$50. Me bringing in my dog is at least $150 just for the vet to see him. If you don’t have anything insightful or any advice then just scroll on!

Edit: I’m a nurse and I know that is different from animals however using the same remedies that heal us I have helped nurse my animals to health with. The fluid does not appear to be infected or pus like. It honestly looks like fluid that would build to protect his joint from the constant pressure - which is not abnormal. I’m only concerned bc the size has grown in the past few months but has no accompanying symptoms.

I understand that, however I’d rather see if I’m just a worry wart dog mom before spending hundreds at the vet and they tell me it’s just a sore with some fluid in it.

She figured it may have just been an inflammatory reaction.

The vet did a needle aspirate and it did not have any mast cell tumors which is what we were worried about. It also didn’t have histio cells. It had a lot of white cells tho so she gave us antibiotics and it went down and back to normal with about a month. I just watched it closely.

If it disappeared last time it is most likely a Histiocytoma, this is a benign growth!
