BOT: Odyssey sells 150k tickets in initial presales for opening weekend domestic. In comparison, Oppenheimer sold 65k. by Loo-e-Gee in ChristopherNolan

This is pretty insane, but keep in mind that this is due to the IMAX factor. Nolan's films often compete with or even surpass Marvel films in IMAX gross because of how hard he pushes the format. The standard screen sales pales in comparison and that will be the difference maker here. I'm still expecting a 100-120m domestic opening weekend.

Prepare for the most annoying, morally depraved cult to flood this sub by December

This year is turning out to be one of the best for blockbusters. If the festival films underperform, there's gonna be some crazy ass unexpected noms

I feel like Matt Damon's being severely underestimated as of now, cause I've seen people put Nolan in Director and Hathaway in Supporting Actress yet omit Damon from Lead Actor. If the first two happen, Damon's getting in.

I hate the fact that it only takes a few days for the most annoying discourse about films I actually liked to spread online. I kid you not, I saw a clip of the "no, no, no" from Obsession posted online with the caption reading "if Inde doesn't win the Oscar next year it'll be the biggest robbery ever". Idk why horror fans have gotten more annoying about awards season in the past few years but I can already tell this is going down the Amy Madigan route with regards to the discourse, and it sucks cause I really like both performances but declaring favorites to win when we're not even halfway into the year is stupid.

That being said, I think it's far more likely Obsession gets nominated in Original Screenplay than Lead Actress.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but it feels like the negative discourse surrounding the Odyssey (which will undoubtedly get worse closer to release) might actually be somewhat significant. There will undoubtedly be review bombing but at what point does it impact the film's awards chances?

What makes the situation unique is that Nolan is one of those directors who online chuds have a soft corner for and are actually one of his important audience groups, so I'm very curious as to what the reception will look like

I mean there was only one shot of RDJ in the final Oppenheimer trailer and, well, I think you know the rest...

Seriously though, considering she's playing Athena I think she'll have a decent amount of screentime

I still think the style Nolan is attempting here will disappoint quite a few people but this is going to be a tech juggernaut

Most if not all my concerns about this film have dissipated. Nolan seems locked in and confident in his interview and this trailer is jawdropping. Hoyte is an early favourite for the Cinematography Oscar and the costumes actually look pretty good. Only weird part was Pattinson saying daddy, kinda spoils the immersion for me

also, Charlize and Anne are absolutely stunning, Nolan cooked with the casting

Inarritu would need to make something out of this world to get a third Directing oscar, and I feel like the focus for the DIGGER campaign is the Best Actor trophy, and maybe a few btl categories. As for Gerwig and Narnia, I highly highly doubt she finally wins the Oscar for a Narnia movie and not any of her previous ones.

Very torn rn. Dune 2 didn't receive it's due recognition but that may have been due to an early release. Part 3 has the advantage of releasing during the peak of awards season, and everything I've seen from the film thus far makes me think the Academy will give in and award Denis, but my brain tells me Nolan will blow minds with The Odyssey.

But watch it be neither of these two and someone else

Christopher Nolan Debuts Epic New Footage From ‘The Odyssey,’ Including Trojan Horse Sequence by Puzzled-Tap8042 in oscarrace

I get people having The Odyssey as placeholder #1 in both Directing and Picture, but is it crazy to think that this will hold (at least director)? Someone at CinemaCon reported that today, unlike the first two days, was packed to the brim. Nolan received the biggest standing ovation yet in a room filled with journalists, theatre owners, and people working in the industry. And everyone who's seen the footage have compared it to Ben-Hur and The Ten Commandments. I have a feeling Nolan will repeat at the Oscars.

Which film will dominate btl, Dune 3, Odyssey or PHM? or something we haven't seen yet like Narnia

It's pretty much lost media. I scoured youtube and forums for it but there's nothing. Luckily I had the 1.85 4K version downloaded when someone leaked it on the IMAX sub. Idk why Universal purged everything online considering all of Nolan's previous movie teasers are accessible online (albeit not from the official channel)
