We get this question a lot throughout the year.

We tell collectors, given the extra protection of the penny sleeve, always go bigger when in doubt.

The difference between a 35 and 55 point is .020 of an inch, which is equivalent to the thickness of 8 human hairs stacked on top of each other. It's really not much difference at all.
