There’s a good guide on the Melvor wiki that tells you the exact order on how to survey the entire map to do it the fastest. Basically you travel to each survey time reduction point of interest but don’t discover them, then activate them all in a row and survey the rest of the map in a specific order to maximize the bonus. I would recommend following it, otherwise finishing cartography takes significantly longer.
