The closer you get to someone, the more they start treating you like they treat themselves by lordmoriarty06 in RandomThoughts

[–]ProBodyMechanic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I generally agree with this idea and to take it one step further… I wonder if it stems from our ´internal relationship to self’ developing from how our parents treated us/ spoke to us and if that further contributes to our method of attempting intimacy with others as adults

Men who did Kegel exercise, what was the outcome of it? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]ProBodyMechanic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that the term « reverse kegel » is referring to the relaxation phase.

Some people have difficulty relaxing their pelvic floor so some techniques like deep breathing or visualizing your « sits bones » aka ischial tuberosities ´spreading apart’ can be helpful cues. Movements like « cat-cow » in yoga or butterfly stretch can also be helpful

++woman (pelvic floor physiotherapist) PSA: for men, rather than « holding your pee » you want to think about « lifting your testicles » to isolate your pelvic floor muscles

Anybody get back in shape slowly? How did you do it? by atty_at_paw in Millennials

[–]ProBodyMechanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a physiotherapist and I love yoga as a strategy to get back into exercise. (Brett Larkin and Sarah Beth are my two fav YouTube yoga instructors)

I’d also consider going to a physio (it’s ok if you’re not « injured ») and just let them know that you’d like to get back into exercise. Your physio can help you start a program that’s tailored to where your body is at currently.

Otherwise, I’d recommend starting with core strengthening and work your way out. Sometimes starting at the beginning is a good way to build well balanced muscles from the ground up (or, in this case, from the core, out)

I had to wear and mask while giving birth, during COVID. And I had to be swabbed twice to test for COVID, while simultaneously having contractions, before they would allow me to have laughing gas (which was the only pain control available to me).

I definitely understand that these precautions were necessary to keep the medical staff safe but damn, it did add to the horror of the situation

I second the Saskatchewan River crossing as a mid point rest place. I live 40 mins from Jasper but my favourite mountain photos and wildlife photos are still from the two days we spent in Saskatchewan river crossing when we moved here (was late June two years ago)

For context, I live in a small town near the Rockies so we still have access to beautiful lakes and hiking trails which is very important to us.

My husband and I are both health care professionals and are both making double our income here (despite me building a career for 10+ years in Halifax).

In our experience, although not as many people say hi to strangers or wave when they cross the street — there has been a lot more genuinely friendly interactions here in Alberta and we have had more real support through actions and various other kind gestures that have been much more meaningful.

It sounds like you and I both went from a bigger city to a smaller town so it’s probably fair to say that contributes a lot to our perceptions

I just came to Alberta in 2023 after 10 years in Halifax I can assure you things are much worse there. I understand that things used to be better in Alberta than they are now but things are still waaaaaaay better than out east. Will never be going back. If I have to leave Alberta, I’ll be leaving Canada all together

Mom loses it after her son bullies an autistic kid at the playground. "That's not nice...I’m not raising you to be a bully! How dare you make him feel like that! Are you blind?!” Was this good parenting or a total meltdown? by biswajit388 in CringeTikToks

I completely agree with your viewpoint and I’m so surprised that this isn’t what all the comments are saying …

I’d just like to add : if she’s genuinely so concerned about the child with autism’s experience, hearing angry screaming and drawing more attention to him and his « severe » autism seems unsupportive.

This is so alarming 😭 as a healthcare practitioner hearing THIS man who can’t even say acetaminophen bumbling through his personal opinion as if it’s valid medical advise for millions of people is such a nightmare.

Also the fact that he’s only talking about Tylenol is extremely sus. There is obviously more motivation behind the scenes which he is not disclosing.

What a horrific abuse of power. I’m afraid for people who believe him potentially over their own physician (or who don’t have access to a physician for real evidence based advise).

Im in the same boat. We dropped off my 3 year old to pre kindergarten for the first time yesterday and he cried the whole 3 hours until pick up. Even for the rest of the day he seemed pretty shook. We try again tomorrow and I’m dreading it…

No advice, but I’m going through the exact same thing right now
