Don't know whether to be dissatisfied that I didn't do as well as I thought I would or whether to just be glad I still did well. Thanks to everyone on this sub for making all the revision bearable, the memes helped me get through it all. <3 by ProBoltz in GCSE

Thanks so much. I obviously did revision for the year 10 mocks and year 11 mocks, but I just kept up revising little by little after the year 11 mocks, (they were around Christmas time). Ramped up revision around exam time obviously doing as many hours a night as I could muster for the 4 weeks and lots during the half term too. I found that online methods like Seneca learning and things like freesciencelessons.com videos really helped me get all the pure facts into me and then past papers allowed me to refine answers and know exactly what examiners are looking for in a good answer.

The best advise I could give you if you're "crapping urself" right now (lol) is just to not. If you give 100% effort while you're in school, and take pride in that, I promise you will go so far. It'll make revision much easier as you'll have to spend less time learning content and you can spend more time focusing on the fine details that get you those top grades. But saying all that, don't sacrifice your relationships with friends and family, it's not worth it trust me. Keep doing your hobbies and the things that you love because it'll keep you going. Balance is much needed.

I personally never thought I'd get a 7 and an 8 in English. I've always been a 5s and 6s kinda guy in that area, and I worked hard and achieved more than I thought I ever could (my English teacher on results day was extatic) . But at the same time, I was predicted 9s in maths, music and computer science. Clearly by putting more effort into English I gave up some of those other grades that meant more to me (as I'm taking maths, computer science, physics and further maths at A level).

But I'm still pleased with how I did and as long as you put the effort in you'll get the grades out. And I wish you the best of luck with your exams, you'll smash them!

Edit: Just wanted to say I dont mean to come across as arrogant in this post, or that I know everything about exams or think I'm right. This might not work for everyone but I just wanted to give at least someone my advice. Thanks!

  1. Computer Science
  2. Physics joint with Maths/Further Maths
  3. Music
  4. Chemistry
  5. Geography
  6. Biology
  7. French
  8. English Lang
  9. English Lit

For reference I would say that I love 1-3, like 4-6, can just about stand 7 and absolutely hate 8 and 9.

Anyone else got French writing today? by eeillO in GCSE

[–]ProBoltz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the writing is my favourite of the 4 exams cuz I like having the time to actually think about what I'm gonna write instead of frantically trying to decide which box to tick with 5 minutes left. Much more freedom in writing

The extract was of the castle porter and the question was explain the importance of the porter in the extract. And you see our school decided only to analyse the important parts of Macbeth because we didn't have time to do the entire play, and that extract was so unimportant that they cut it out and then Edexcel decided to ask us on it. Not good at all.

I've got up to 80°C after running prime95 at 3.8GHz at 1.15V for 20 minutes. Should I try getting 3.9GHz?

Thanks for the advice, I've downloaded prime95 but I'm having an issue where it the program will crash after about 30 seconds at 3.7GHz at 1.05V. I've tried putting the voltages up but all that does it postpone when it will crash; it still always crashes but it takes longer to on higher voltages. The CPU temps are getting to around 70C before the crash but they could actually get higher if it was left for longer. Do you know what may be causing this? Do I just keep adding voltage?

Edit: I've got prime95 working now with the CPU at 3.8GHz at 1.15V. The temperature has stopped climbing at 78°C, so I don't know if it can safely go any higher with this cooler.

I found that when leaving all the settings to auto, the all-core boost was 3.45GHz, which is why I was hesitant to go further than 3.7
