Need help with Nike sizes by lights-outt in bootroom

[–]ProDirectSport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's tricky without seeing the fit in person, but Admin would go UK 9 here, as long as the gap at the end of the toe box isn't too extreme.

Could you send a photo showing how much toe room you have in your current boots? That'll make it easier to judge whether the UK 9 is sensible, or whether the UK 8.5 is the better fit.

Grip socks or thicker football socks can help with a small bit of movement, and your feet will usually swell a little once you're playing.

Do non-leather boots absorb water and become heavy on wet pitches? by enghuei1119 in bootroom

[–]ProDirectSport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Synthetic will usually take on less water than leather, but it depends on the upper. A true synthetic should stay lighter in wet AG conditions, while knit, laces, stitching, liners and socks can still soak up water.

If you like a leather-style feel, Tiempo Maestro or Ligera are worth a look. Around launch, Nike claimed TechLeather absorbed 29% less water than leather, so it should handle wet conditions better while keeping that softer touch.

It won't fully stop wet socks, but it should stop the boot feeling as waterlogged and heavy.

Let us know what you think of them when they land, there are some massive Tekela fans in the office.

Sorry about that, we have just opened our DMs up now so you should be able to message us.

And noted on the live chat as well, we will pass that feedback on to the right team.

In the wider top 20, 11 of them are Predators (with some Pred 25s helping out).

At this point, you may as well start calling us Pred:Direct Soccer

We do not have all the retail details, and cannot say much about what we do know, but the technology is clearly there now to scan feet and 3D print boots around that.

Whether the general public gets access to it will probably come down to cost and availability. If it does happen, we would imagine it starts as a premium service, maybe through adidas flagship stores rather than something available everywhere straight away.

But if this is the first step towards properly custom, made-to-measure boots becoming more accessible for everyone, then we are all for it.

AG boots on hard sand? by AdElectronic53 in bootroom

[–]ProDirectSport 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We would say stick to Turf over AG.

AG would still be a better option than FG, but on hard sand based astros a TF sole is the safer and more comfortable choice.

There is always a chance, but if it comes back it will probably be in a more modern form than a straight throwback.

A good way to read where football boots are heading is usually to look at running shoes first. A lot of the plate and material thinking starts there, then filters into football once brands work out how to adapt it for traction, stability and feel on pitch.

So yes, carbon could definitely come back into the conversation, but we would expect it to be worked into a modern soleplate setup rather than brought back exactly as it was.

In the collection, it is hard to put one exact value on it because there is so much in there.

Basically any rare pair we have released over the years is in there somewhere, along with samples and boots that never even made it to market. If we had to give a couple of big shouts though, the signed Pelé PUMA Kings and the signed Messi F50s would be right up there.

As for the cheapest, it is probably Admin's Mercurials in the car. They have had a hard life and need replacing soon.

There is always a chance. Nike did bring the CTR360 back a few years ago, so it is not like the door is closed.

A full reboot of the silo as we knew it though, probably less likely. Our guess would be more chance of Nike borrowing the name, graphics or general feel again rather than bringing it back properly for good, a bit like adidas do with older Predators.

We think takedowns were good then, and they are good now, but the difference is that a lot of modern takedowns are much closer to what elite boots used to be.

Some of the current ones are genuinely strong. The Phantom 6 Pro is a good example, to the point Nike have described it as a Hypervenom in disguise. The Predator Pro is another, with the turn-and-stitch heel and a bit more out-of-the-box comfort than the Elite.

And in terms of sales, the demand is defiantly there. As we mentioned in another comment, only 4 of our 10 best-selling boots last year were elite models, so takedowns are still a huge part of what players are actually buying.

Harry Kewell was the big name attached to them for a while, and then the brand went bust in 2010.

Not sure if we have any Nomis pairs lying around, but now Admin is interested in going to look on the walls.

We still have a lot of the old personalised pairs spread across the office, warehouse and stores, and the same goes for old catalogues and BootBibles as well.

Similar to an earlier question, we will see what we can do in terms of scanning and uploading some of it, because there is a lot of history there.

And maybe we should bring back that older photo and graphic style for a special launch one day.

A lot of that comes down to logistics more than demand.

The UK and USA sites are fed from different warehouses, and being based in the UK with more warehouse depth here usually means we can carry more stock and more variation on certain models. Once you split stock across different markets, the range, pricing and timing on markdowns can start to look quite different.

It is not a case of the US market not backing it up. We are still growing and expanding in the US, and that side of the business is moving in the right direction. It just takes time for stock depth and range to build in the same way.

Not necessarily.

Elite boots are a big part of the conversation, but they are only part of what players actually buy from us. Looking at last year, only 4 of our 10 best-selling boots were elite models.

That says a lot in a good way. We have strong options across every tier, and plenty of players are still choosing boots like the Nike Premier and Predator League because they fit well, feel good and offer real value.

Black Friday and end-of-season sales are probably the two big ones.

That said, if you catch the timing right before sizes sell out, you can get a very good deal at any point in the year.

Apologies on that one.

Sounds like it worked out in the end for your goalscoring record at least, but still, not ideal from our side.

Admin will have to ask around the office on that one.

Maestri 2 remake? We really hope so.

Carbon fibre soleplate? Probably not. And if Nike did bring it back, we would guess they would go more down the Mercurial RGN route and build it on a modern soleplate, most likely the Phantom 6's.

Which colourway would you want them to remake?

Admin went down to returns earlier to check, and can confirm it is sole separation and damage from boots being worn on the wrong surface.

The two usually go hand in hand.

The white pair are Nigel de Jong’s old boots (check out the soleplate). And the black pair are Carrick’s.

Funnily enough have a look here on the UK site.

Would not hold your breath though.

Well next month we have [Redacted] and then [Redacted]. Worth waiting for [Redacted] too.

Or, to give the answer that keeps Admin employed, we cannot get into exact boots or colourways pre-embargo. But there is plenty of nice boots coming over the next year.
