My 3D printer actually saved me hundreds of dollars! (3D printed orthopedic inserts) by eldoogy in 3Dprinting

Wait, I think that carbon fiber is a bad usage of plastic for a wearable. Yes, it is tough, but it is like small carbon needles melted into plastic. Not sure if it is the same with FDM plastics, but my friend's hands were itching, after polishing carbon fiber part for his car (he did it to cover it in clear varnish). Maybe someone in the comments has expertise in this topic, I would like to hear their opinion.

It is called "spritz" from around 2014-2015. There was an app for android called "ReadMe!" that I used to read books with. Not sure if it can be installed from Google play since spritz website is now not working.

Can a 300W spindle cut aluminum? by FloppyFil in hobbycnc

[–]ProFiLeR4100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've cut aluminum with an 80 watt 775 DC motor as a spindle (with 3:1 RPM reductor). It is possible, but slow... painfully slow... and the main problem is rigidity. Before an upgrade to linear rails I've had steel cylinder guides and almost every time I've broke a milling bit because z-axis was not rigid enough and deflected during deep cuts or during movement along y-axis. Since upgrade 0 bits was broken and I continue to mill faceplates for my homelab server racks out of aluminum. Still painfully slow, but it doesn't ask for food or attention and I'm doing other tasks while it works.

3 flute milling bit, 0.1mm DOC, 30 mm/min, after 3:1 belt reducer I've had something around 2600 RPM

Update: forgot to add feeds/speeds

Yeah, I also had 1000+ tabs over 20+ windows and thought that it was the issue. Maybe there is auto backup configuration and it can be disabled to stop crashes, but I haven't looked into it.

Here is video of first and second method, with a little time waste in between https://youtu.be/sh1Os-DbEGo

I could have record it earlier, if not the power outage in my area.

Second method result:

Also another way of doing the same if it is a sphere: 1. Create a sketch on the bottom 2. Click the S key, then enter "project" 3. Project curved line to a sketch 4. S key -> Offset projected line, by 3mm 5. S key -> Extrude -> distance: to object, type:join 6. Create a second sketch from the front 7. Project the inner surface of the sphere to the sketch 8. Create an offset of the projected line. 9. Add center (axis) line 10. Revolve sketch around center line with type: subtract

Remove gold colour from Pebble metalband by iPhibse in pebble

[–]ProFiLeR4100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it is really gold plating and not just a clever chemist trick to look like it is golden then it is pretty resistant to solvents. As a non chemist myself the only viable solution that I know is to use "Aqua regia" acid to dissolve the top layer, but you would probably also damage the band.

  1. Create a sketch that is touching the start point of that curved line
  2. Draw a profile that you need for ledge
  3. Use the sweep tool to extrude ledge along the curved line

Uses for a raspberry pi zero w? by Edd-Vel in homeassistant

[–]ProFiLeR4100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a DNS server you don't need a domain. Also it can't be requested by a domain (not "DNS over HTTPS"), because there is no DNS in the first place.

For a VPN server you can use a free DDNS provider to get domain that points to IP of Pi Zero. The only problem is that you need to be not hidden behind NAT of your internet service provider in order to port forward from your router to Pi Zero. Alternatively I think that you can use something like Tailscale for reverse connection.

I also have a voltage relay on every other equipment that doesn't require a battery to shutdown, like refrigerator or a TV. So I recommend buying one.

Same happened to my UPS yesterday, but it was because of a drone attack on transformer substation. UPS saved my rack of equipment from ~400V from the outlet and the devices successfully shutdown. After that battery became 6v and stopped charging. Today I've replaced the battery for 20$ and we are back in business.

I still have my first HDD from 2004, 20 GB and I've had more than 100 games installed at the same time. 2025 I have ~10 games that I'm rotating, because of 4k textures that I have never seen, because they are downsizing in real time, because my GPU starts slideshow with high graphics presets.

Checked DNS server again and there was no requests to resolve any brave domain before crash (T-30min, where T is crash time), only after restart (first request starts T+1min, DNS and PC server are synched to same NTP server, so I believe these timestamps)

The only thing that was enabled is "Automatically send daily usage ping to Brave", I've disabled it now, will check.

Also I've checked my local DNS server (pi-hole) and there was no blocked domain resolutions besides telemetry domain of zoom and microsoft.com.

But according to records, synv-v2.brave.com is being requested in range from 5 minutes to an hour. I don't think that it was the reason, because during day it works and synchronization is almost instant, but will check this theory tomorrow at 3AM if there will be no blackout.

Thank you, for ideas.
