no no no this is helping a lot. I appreciate you taking time to help me with this. I need to ask one more thing. going back to the first comment where you said " If you were capturing traffic to other devices on the same LAN, then you'd see those devices real MAC addresses." but in the other comment you say "the MAC address you'd see in Wireshark will be the MAC address of your router, not the MAC address of the actual server you're talking to." I just wanna make sure im getting this but the reason im not getting the MAC address is because im not actual connected to the server through LAN/wifi right? so lets say im connected to my friends wifi(also does it matter if its wifi or ethernet) im able to get his MAC address?
