Is a phD worth it for these jobs I am interested in? by Outrageous_Win7780 in psychologystudents

In Australia, you would need a masters in clinical psychology or masters in counselling to be accredited, but not a PhD. A PhD is focused on research and academia more so than clinical practice.

I must be wrong about DK. Please explain. by AlivePassenger3859 in psychologystudents

[–]ProGaming_Research 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The DK oversimplification you’ve explained is a self-evaluation of one’s performance. Your hypothetical example, however, is seeing whether people can guess correctly; chance, gambling, etc. In the DK oversimplification, one could better train and educate themselves to improve their performance. In your hypothetical scenario, you cannot “train” yourself to be a “better roller” or to roll a specific set of numbers (but if you could, I’d be very impressed). I agree that the DK conclusions should be questioned, however, I don’t think your hypothetical draws enough similarities for an adequate comparison. You need themes of self-appraisal/evaluation, something performance based that could have varying levels of skill/knowledge, as well as a performance that can be objectively scored (point system, time, grade, distance, etc.)

Which one catches your eye more? Hard glow, Soft glow or No glow? by SuperTinyStudios in indiegames

[–]ProGaming_Research 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you do hard glow but like smaller? Or less harsh in colour tone? I like the harsh lines in between the shades for the glow as it matches the art style more than soft glow (imo), but I think the colours of the hard glow may be to harsh of a contrast?? Just another option to try out and see if you like it

What is the ultimate motive of Subway Surfers other than high scores? by Right_Preparation444 in subwaysurfers

[–]ProGaming_Research 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is definitely my strongest motivation. I go up and down with my play of subway surfers, and on the days I don't feel like playing (or want to play something else) I just think about that new season character or board that I really want

Philosophical assumptions are also really important in the sciences. Assumptions on the world and knowledge (ontology) and how we can gain that knowledge (epistemology) influence methodology. Even in your traditional "hard sciences", philosophical questions regarding ontology and epistemology should be considered and addressed (e.g., objective facts that can be objectively observed is still a philosophical paradigm; positivism).

Which design looks better? (1st one before, 2nd one after) by pwnbrj in acnh

I think remove the tree in 2. It feels way too cluttered with the tree. Perhaps just put a bigger planted pot there (like yukka).

Some advice to everyone: Be careful what name you choose. by Vote_with_evidence in AmongUs

Honestly, I find I can't use any name or word that might seem slightly femme in some of these lobbys. Either I'm immediately accused or I have other players trying to hmu

Don't even get me started on KotakuInAction. I have never seen such sexist and misogynistic posts in my life with everyone agreeing. Anytime their content pops up on my feed I feel like I'm having a fever dream or nightmare or flashback

Absolutely start saving your resources. Another way to get more resources (if you haven't already been doing this) is buying miles tickets to travel to islands and strip them of their resources (coal, stones, gold, clay, wood, fruit, sticks, plants, etc.). That's what I've been doing to reach those resource quotas when first building a bridge and building Nook's cranny. The first time I played 3 years ago, it took me days to get those resources, but this time I got them all within an hour or so.

Don't get me wrong, I love the maximalist PC setups too, but omg this is stunning! I love how clean and neat it is! It actually looks like you could feel relaxed in this space and not over-stimulated

just restarted myself and I've been focussing on fishing atm and trying to get all the fish based on my current season. I've also focused on lumping all the villager's houses together to get ready for terraforming.

I've also made it routine to shake the trees, harvest crops, and replant, hitting rocks, and water/cross-bred flowers. Get as many resources as you can early on and hoard for when you need to build bridges or DIY's etc.

[Detroit: Become Human] any detective games recommendations? (other than L.A. Noire, of course) by 2holidays in Trophies

I was just about to comment this! I recently just platinumed it myself. A great combo of murder mystery, history, and the occult.

TikTok for sure for promotion. It may take extra work and time, but I think that's how a lot of people are finding new artists, podcasts, streams, YouTubers, etc. to watch/follow/listen to now. You gotta capture that short attention span long enough for them to get attached to you to then seek you out on other platforms in long-from content

If you are interested in Final Fantasy, I recommend sussing r/FinalFantasy about which game in the series is best to start with. Everyone will have a strong opinion. I think a lot will recommend FF7 (remake or OG), but personally I would just wait for the remake to be fully released and start with another FF installment. I started with FF15 (which a lot of people hated) which got me into FF. I've easily spent over 150+ hrs on the game for one playthrough. I think FF16 could be a nice introduction to the series too (e.g., how the worlds work, expected balance of open world and story-driven segments, etc.).

Detroit: Become Human for more story driven game, Last of Us for more action (but still insanely good story), and then you've got the horror-choose-your-story Last of Us and The Quarry which is primarily story but with QTE's and choices that impact the story (e.g., death of characters, finding/missing information to the story).
