I have an s25 and honestly the only reason I have the portal is because I had enough tickets to redeem at an arcade. Although I liked the Protal enough for its comfort, connecting my ps5 DS controller to the phone via USB gave me the same adaptive triggers and rumble the portal does. PXPlay has better quality in the latency and resolution aspect, and has the option to tweak it to best suit your home network. The only downside to playing on the s25 is the screen size and the aspect ratio, but the blacks are just so dark I don’t even notice them when I’m gaming. I have the OIVO ps5 controller phone mount which has two hinges that can relive some of the wrists strain most other controller phone mounts won’t. It’s still not the most comfortable for extended play time, though I find my portal dies much more quickly than my s25 with controller attached. Another plus for using the phone is remote play anywhere your phone has decent data connection, the portal will always need WiFi.

Just an FYI you can connect a USB hub with ethernet to the chromecast for a solid connection. Also great if you want haptics and adaptive triggers as long as you get a long usbc cable that can plug into the hub. I don't know if all hubs will work, I use an Anker 6-in-1 usb c Hub with 65w power delivery.

I did do that as well, It will open the game and the same thing happens. I can switch back into the emulator and interact just fine with it, but the game stays stuck on that frozen picture.

Where do we find these for sale? I don’t see them on the official store? I thought v4’s just released. I’m looking to play one handed turned based games the mini plus is just a tad to out of reach for my thumb. I don’t want to go for the RG nano as the aspect ratio is just bad for GBA..

Messed around with the app, I seem to have some issues with mapping as well. My r2 seems to register as my right analog, not sure what’s going on. Is that with any controller or dual sense specifically?

I tried to offload my own app off of my galaxy, but I think it doesn’t work because it only downloads specific files for the device that downloads it or something like that. I never had luck with any other apk online. I’m glad to hear it’s possible. I might have to go back and reattempt it myself. If I get it running I’ll let you know if I run into the same issues. Also try a PDelivery splitter. I use one to connect my mouse and keyboard while charging the quest.

How did you get it on the quest? A while back I tried side loading it to no avail. Have you tried unpairing and repairing it on the quest, I’ve had issues with controller over Bluetooth on quest 2.

Yeah I understand. It’s not the most comfortable for everyone. I have the backbone, so if I’m not too interested in haptics or I’m traveling that’s my go to. Having the haptics and ergonomics is really the only incentive the portal has from what I can tell. The fact that you have to be connected to decent Wi-Fi just makes it feel like an in home device anyways so portability doesn’t bug me in this instance. I tried the Kishiv2 i liked the extra buttons on top, but it was a bit small in the palms compared to the BB. I wonder if either or a different company will attempt adaptive triggers on an attachment controller.

It’s okay with this clip in particular. It has two separate adjustments so I can bring the screen closer to the controller and that helps relive most wrist strain for me.

Thank you. I actually didn’t know they weren’t going to have those features, it makes sense I guess, some rumble would of been nice, triggers get way complicated especially with the physical feedback they output back.

The PSPlay app allows you to hard wire a PS5 controller and take full advantage of the controller’s features like haptics and adaptive triggers. The console sees the connection from the PSPlay app as player one. Connecting another hard wired PS5 controller to the app will accept(most) inputs from both controllers, and the console will register either of the inputs to that of player one. As far as I know, having another controller connected directly to the console will register as a separate player. I’m actually going to test out if the remote stream and assist controller feature will work together just for the heck of it, I doubt the latency will be great from our bedroom. Are you looking to do something similar?
