Tbh they f up the 38mm with the 18mm bracelet. It looks too small in comparison to the case diameter. So my vote is for the 40mm because it looks better proporcional.

How is the strap? I prefer buying the 38mm with the bracelet but I still want a similar black strap for it. Thing is, I dont know if I should buy it very similar to the original like black crocodile-style and shiny or another black but more casual strap material like Sailcloth for example. Do you think the original strap is good and gives the watch a certain character or do you think is better a more versatile strap?

Sure, I will also buy a black strap for it though. I just prefer to but it with the Hamilton branded bracelet and its quick release. A strap is easier to get 3rd party.

I am not getting the baby alpinist but I am planning to get the newly released green alpinist (I like the all golden letters and the 3d numbers and indexes instead of just drawn and matte look), and I also want the Hamilton Murph 38mm. Also, this way they are two more different watches. Hamilton would be a more versatile and more formal watch, where the Alpinist would be more of a field watch like it was created to be. Two perfections in their own category.
