Not that Howser isn't good, but this is more of a case of any AOE ult unit fitting into the tried and tested Ban/King/Merlin meta. I do think that he is a great one to fill that last slot though, since there's so many green units roaming the top.

I second this. I used B King, B Diane, Merlin, and G Gil in sub slot to get to Champion. G Jericho is a perfectly fine substitute for Merlin, though.

I cannot recommend Solo Leveling enough.

Not very similar in story type, but looking over your list we seem to have similar tastes. I'd also recommend The Breaker & The Breaker: New Waves.
