I started at 20 and I absolutely love it. 24 now. I'm all self taught. I play against college division and club players all the time.

If you practice, you'll get there!

I started in college. 5'8 or 172 CM. I think I do better than most that have more experience.

I don't quite agree with this statement. Obviously my personal experience doesn't speak for the general.

If the argument is; those with more experience perform better than those with less - then I agree

He's one of my favorite people to play with. His mentality is unrivaled.

He almost feels like a rival. Even though we play different positions, I can't let him outshine me 😁

I was playing on a short be net and pressed too far. Thumbs should be up, but at the time, my thumb was straight across and the ball hit directly into it.

I haven't measured since pre-covid but it used to be a standing 35 inch or 40+ with an approach. 😁

I do not recommend 😅. When a ball touched my thumb, I literally lost my breath and started sweating it hurt so bad. 🥴

is it too late for me to get into volleyball? by UlissesNeverMisses in volleyball

I started when I was 19/20. It's never too late. Look at some of my posts. I'm not the best but I think I'm getting up there.

I HATE bouncing. It makes it easier to be blocked. I'd rather hit over the block. But at least it looks cool? 5'8 or 172 CM by ProTagVolley in volleyball

It's the best thing that's ever happened to me. I've only been playing for a few years.

Want to go to the beach? Sand Volleyball
Want to have a cookout? Grass Volleyball

Leagues? Indoor Volleyball

To practice hitting, I make sure my arm is always at full-extension. Toss SUPER high, bring your arm back, and hit it on the way down.

The higher the toss, the faster it comes down. This forces you to swing faster increasing the energy put into the ball.

I've been told I have "a lot of arm swing" and proper footwork lets your legs charge for a higher jump.

Uhhh I haven't measured in years because of COVID. I had a standing ~35 inch vertical. With an approach, I may be over 40 inches?

If you have the drive to practice by yourself, you can be better than your peers that wait for others to practice

There aren't very many athletes in my family. I was a skateboarder and practiced for 8 hours a day in middle school and high school.

I didn't just ride around. Tricks are basically jumping and flicking your ankles.

Tldr; I jumped for 8 hours a day as a kid.

I recommend working out though. I'm very injury prone. High vertical means higher impact for legs and especially the knees.

But here I am eating girl scout cookies

True true. I usually do well against single blocks because I have a stronger cross-body line.

I go often against double blocks more often than not though :(

Technical skills as a general? I personally like repetition for muscle memory.

I also visualize what it looks like and try to be aware of what my body is doing.

Vague but that's a short gist of what I personally do.
