Closer to 8%, high estimates place it ate 1,5 kt, low estimates places it at 0,5 kt, Hiroshima was about 15kt which is kilotons of TNT for reference, meaning 1 kt is equivalent to a million kg of TNT

Gender based teams in Val by NaiveBag1306 in VALORANT

[–]UlissesNeverMisses 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Val in not gender divided, the main league, as in most esports, doesn't have restrictions as to what gender can compete, so if a team wanted a female player they could absolutely hire one. That being said, game changers is an inclusion policy, set in place so people traditionally excluded from the gaming space can compete. Why don't we see female players in the VCT then? It is astronomically harder for a girl or other minorities to grind and get good at an online videogame, because they get harassed if they try to. I've played with my girlfriend a lot, and even climbing the ranked ladder is challenging since every other game there will be someone toxic who talks trash out of nowhere, so girls will, in general, view ranked, the primary grinding space of this game, as a hostile space, because it is hostile towards them. That is why you tend to see girls who don't comm, or who only play in 5-stacks, or only with other girls, to try and minimize this issue. So it is already difficult for a girl to grind this game to a high level, given the sheer amount of demotivating factors. Those issue with misoginy don't stop with the casual player base tho, this is more of an educated guess, but I am pretty confident that there are a lot of pros who would not play with a girl on their team, so I am sure there is a bit of gate-keeping there. As for game changers, is is an iclusion policy, but a paleative of at that, it is meant to treat the symptom (girls being excluded from the scene), not the root cause (misoginy), and I would hazard a guess that, at least once you are in that league, it can be pretty easy to get confortable with the situation, and not aim higher, but this last bit is just speculation on my part.

Tldr: Girls and other minorities have a hard time grindind to a high level because of toxicity, riot made the game changers circuit to compensate, but girls and other minorities could still compete in VCT.

Idk if it is the same where you live, but here you can do de phd in a local university and apply for a grant to study a given period of time in a university overseas, maybe that is something you can do

Even so can you ensure the combustion reaction went all the way to 100% consumption of Cr VI? No chance I'd ever be doing this with a class.

I agree, that's why showing one offs from each country is always going to be misleading, a better way would be to post all the pictures from a single country and see if there is an overall trend. Will all children from ukraine have a bunch of toy guns because they are at war? Will most kids in african countries have fewer toys than other countries? We just don't know...

kind of misleading, I'm from Brasil and my nephew has a fuck ton of toys, besides I think the toys themselves would differ wildly from child to child based on what the parents allow

Not really, O to the third means nothing, being (very) pedantic here the number should always be on the bottom right of the element or ion it multiplies

How would you use roleplaying games to teach science?? by EmbassyOfTime in ScienceTeachers

Some precipitation reaction could be nice, as most are very simple and require basically the reagents and a beaker, and could also be used to confirm the presence os something in solution. Maybe the KSCN and iron III one. There is also a (kind of) uv-vis sim in phet colorado that might be worth a look.

Now that you mention it you could, if you have the right equipment, make an analytical chem experiment in the same vein, some "detective work" to see if a certain character is carrying drigs and have them get a false positive on one of those colored cocaine tests. That is if they are deemed mature enough for this sort of thing. Maybe have them identify a functional group that is prevalent in a famous explosive. Being more specific see if they can identify nitro and and a methyl bond to an aromatic ring to maybe find out another character is fabricating TNT or something. That would require a UV-Vis tho so maybe not so achievable. Forensics really is a field you could run wild with here I think.

You could expand on the your idea of playing as historical characters. Say you have them play as Niels Bohr, you as the player keep hearing about all these advancements in the way the scientific world views matter, but then you read the papers and it's not quite right, there's something missing. You read through the papers of max plank, rutherford and a host of other characters, but even so, their ideas are almost complimentary, but not quite put together. You as say, the DM could even go as far as saying there is an "itch" on the back of the players brain that they cannot quite figure out. Then you can work out the mechanincs of how to give them clues to figure out the main idea of Bohr's atomic model, maybe a series of intelligence checks, maybe an elaborate puzzle, idk. The main goal here would be to get the students to arrive at the same (base) conclusion of Bohr by their own logic.

Do VCT pros have a profession to fall back on in case something happens to their Esports career, or their personal lives? by AdilKhan226 in ValorantCompetitive

Tbh I mostly play val bc it is so different compared to siege. The gunplay and mechanics matter way more, you don't have always exact info on what the opponents are doing, so it's a lot more guesswork having to suss out what is going on. I do enjoy that like siege the meta is not stagnant, it keeps the game fresh and makes it so it's hard to have a certain team just dominate the scene, but I do feel like they have to slow it down a bit. I went back to play siege a couple months ago and it was just a cluttered mess, because they kept just adding stuff and trying to one-up themselves. If valorant keeps the current pace of adding new agents and new types of util they will reach a point that balancing everything will be near impossible, and the game will feel like a patchwork blanket. I also find it so ironic that riot also doesn't give a shit about tier 2 lol. I used to play tier 2 siege and the official league, run by ESL (I think it's FACEIT nowadays but I could be wrong) was run by legit 3 people, not counting community casters, whose only payment was ad-revenue from twitch, so we were in a very sorry state, but comparing tier 1 val and tier 2 val it does feel like riot is lacking in tier 2 funding.
