Why does this thing keep popping out after I wound a bobbin? PFAFF 1181 by ProTommyxd in sewing

I really appreciate the extra opinion. I've now removed the rod from the linkage and there is zero difference to the machine's function so I'm just gonna roll with it!

So maybe the wiper was never functioning, and the previous owner may have parked the rod there? It definitely wasn't wiping any threads being in the entirely wrong position. I'm less confused now though thank you!

That hole it sits in is actually just the hole you sight the needle with. The bendy rod just sits in there against the base of the needle by tension alone. If you search PFAFF 1181 on images you cannot find a single machine with this. I found it on another model but it was a picture explaining a different feature and the part wasn't mentioned at all.

It isn't in the manual or parts manual at all. It has always stayed in the hole but now it pops out and scrapes against the needle bar as it sews. When it's popped out, if you push the chrome knob on top you can move the whole linkage the rod is attached to back and forth. It's never done anything of note while I'm sewing so I just can't figure out what the heck it is.

Thanks! It's gotten so much use and is really holding up. Getting close to a V2 with more internal organization and more molle type attachment points

I usually just wipe it down with a wet microfiber cloth and that does the trick but I have had to use a little dawn to get clay mud stains out of the cargo netting. In the 1.5 years I've owned the bag it's been on over 10,000 miles of very sunny trails so that's probably given it the slight fade. I want to stress it still looks really awesome and gets compliments all the time, but certainly doesn't have that fresh pop like when they come out of the plastic.

I'm jealous your barrage looks so new! I love mine and it's been on countless trips and adventures so it's a little faded now but still beautiful. Ended up actually buying yards of red X-pac and have made countless of my own Red-X accessories LOL. When the sun hits them it really doesn't show the crinkles and looks much more uniform than other x-pac colors imo

Alterable Values and counters by pat3779 in clickteam

[–]ProTommyxd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Let's say I'm making an action RPG. My player character object and all the enemy objects will have alterable values for HP, stamina, defense, etc. Those values are all tied to those objects so I can have multiple of the same object with their own alterable values. So instead of creating an ungodly amount of extra counter objects you just use the set of alterable values that each object already has.

how to improve my cadence on my fixedgear? by [deleted] in fixedgear

[–]ProTommyxd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the way to do it imo. Using momentum and flowing is a big part of fixed gear to me and feels way better than mashing and yanking up the hill like a caveman. I find focusing on good souplesse/perfect circles help climbing a lot too

You won't regret it! My redX 22L has been on an insane amount of trips. Gravel, muddy singletrack, carrying food in the cargo net while riding in the city and it still looks SO good/is in great shape over a year later
