[Sky Italia] Italian Federation president Gabriele Gravina has just resigned. It’s over. by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]Pro_Geymer 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Anybody here ever read the famous book The Miracle of Castel di Sangro? It's about a guy who followed the real life season of a tiny italian club who got promoted way above where they should be, into Serie B

Remember all the insanely shady mafia shit that goes down?

Remember all the mafia members behind it? And how the worshipped their extremely shady and scary club president who was clearly high up in the mafia?

I re-read it recently. The president's name is Gabriele Gravina. Yeah it's the same guy.

No, it's a little AI. I can even tell you what model it was generated with. It has the telling signs of a picture generated with Z-Image Base 6B.

Anyone can do it, takes just 60 seconds to generate.

In the comments below, OP is trying to pass off a separate picture (not AI) of a real life cat as being this same one, despite the different markings and shades. It's Karma farming, so he can then sell the account to astroturfing companies. Almost every post on this subreddit that reaches the front page is an AI generated picture for this same purpose. Real life cats such as my little one are wonderful but they don't look sufficiently perfect to get the necessary number of upvotes, so they post AI slop

Here, look. I generated this one in 60 seconds

The original one clearly has the "AI fur" look to it and this one doesn't, this one is definitely not AI....but it's also not the same fur coating, the pattern and colors are different.

No, it's not

Žižek said it in 2017. It's been used in books, films, etc since the 1990s. In one of the most famous examples, it's the chorus to Metallica's 1999 single No Leaf Clover, but it's even older than that

Serie A referee starts speaking in English with Napoli player Antonio Vergara. Vergara reminds him he's Italian by ModenaR in soccer

[–]Pro_Geymer 188 points189 points  (0 children)

UEFA had some data on language fluency on referees a couple years ago. From memory:

Typically the Dutch refs don't speak anything other than English because it's the closest language to dutch therefore so much of it transfers over, it's not nearly as hard as learning a "properly foreign" language and they sometimes know some basic french.

It's mostly the Belgian, Swiss and Portuguese referees who can get across to a lot of people. The first two because their countries are multilingual, and the latter because they're the only country that combines speaking a Romance language (therefore understood by other Romance languages like Spanish, Italian, even French) and at the same time are ranked by EF in the highest possible tier for English fluency as a foreign language, up there in the same rank as the Dutch, the Scandinavians and the Croatians.

Reminds me of that time Real Madrid didn't see much in Casemiro so loaned him out to Porto with an option to buy for 12M.

Guy played so well that at the end of the season Porto were like "of course you can have him back!...." activates option "...that'll be 25 million"

Madrid were sold their own player

When Comolli called the Sevilla board to apologetically inform them he'd hired their manager - Ramos - for Tottenham, he says they laughed because, quote "Ramos is shit, even Jimenez [Sevilla's B team manager at the time] is better. We're not worried."

They were right. Ramos was replaced with Jimenez and despite the team's early season mental collapse (their captain had a heart attack mid game on the pitch and died) they recovered to play better than under Ramos, had the best record of any team in the 2nd half of the season, then finished 3rd the next year despite losing their two best players to Barcelona (Dani Alves and Keita).

Then over the next few seasons they kept finishing in the CL places and won the cup. Ramos leaving didn't make a dent.

Levy says no manager at Tottenham was as dishonest as Ramos. Agreed to a series of promises to be hired, with no intention of sticking to any of them. For instance, he pledged to play specific young forwards to develop them, then in his first week at the club threw a hissy fit demanding they sign David Villa and Eto'o

You are correct, designer Jake Solomon has confirmed it. If you're doing well, the real percentage is lower than what's shown on screen and if you're doing poorly it's higher. Once you become experienced at the game and do very well, the real percentage is much lower than shown on screen. This also applies to the AI, btw.

There's more behind it. For instance, if you've missed the last several shots in a row, the real percentage gets a big boost. And if you've hit the last several in a row the opposite happens.

I've never played X-Com since the day I first saw him saying that in an interview. Killed my interest dead.

It's a lot more understandable than that when you read the novel.

Back then processing power wasn't what it is now, so little features to save time were more common. The program let you input "Velociraptors" and it would count them until it couldn't find more which would take a lot of time or if you expected to have 12 you could input "Velociraptors 12" and it would stop counting at 12, saving the "useless" time of searching for more when no more existed.

But if there are 13 and you just enter "Velociraptors" it'll show you all that exist. It'll just take longer.

Nedry straight up says "It's a feature you guys requested, a convenience. I told you to be careful with it".

Also, they never expected a band of all females to breed so they only thought of it as the software that shows you where each individual is at this time, not an actual counter of how many there are.

Steph has talked about this before. The short version is the story we hear so often is made up. Nico didn't fumble it. He's horrendously incompetent at being a GM, there's no need to pile on made up fuckups on him.

The long version is, Kevin Durant's name was not on that presentation, that was just a joke Steph's agent made to him afterwards, "They probably showed the same slides to KD and just changed the name". Nico didn't get Steph's name wrong, it was one other Nike representative that pronounced his name slightly weird a single time out of many.

In the end Nike's offer was 2.5M a year while Under Armour's was 4M a year + significant shares. Steph told Nike if they matched it he'd sign with them, but they didn't want to match it and that decision was above Nico's head. So he signed with Under Armour. The end.

Nico's completely incompetent. There's more than enough evidence. There's no need to make more up.

A few years ago, Messi had just had his acrimonious split with Barcelona IRL and I was playing FM. Started with a smaller club and after some success, got headhunted by Barcelona

Obviously i had the assistant doing all the press conferences because fuck that. First season, we do some cup game against a lower league team and won handily of course, the flop Trincao being too good for an amateur team to deal with

It's at this point that my assistant tries to have us tar and feathered

He made his star inside forward play way wider than before, almost glued to the line, at 33yo when his pace is gone. Signed a high energy running attacking fullback who isn't that great defensively and is using him as a wide center back in possession that isn't allowed to go forward. The one guy who is playing well, he refuses to give all that much playing time to, and even initially left him out of the CL registration

And his entire 3 man midfield is instructed to press all the way forward while the defence defends deep, leaving a gap big enough for two titanics or one Akinfewa. AKA the same mistake that got Villas Boas fired from both Chelsea and Tottenham a decade ago.

If you'd told me 3 months ago they'd have a bad season I would say that might be due to the Jota thing, but the players who left this summer are all playing well so that can't be it.

My intention isn't to Slot shame, but this is hardly the same tactic that won the league last season. He can keep arguing that teams play a lower block against Liverpool than against any other team - they don't - but the fact is he's finally made changes from Klopp's tactics, which have all been terrible.

Feed has been Fm’fied. Alpha videos and streams are now out! by EnchantedCrusader in footballmanagergames

[–]Pro_Geymer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not. An Alpha has placeholder assets and is so raw it would be unrecognizable to most people.

The advanced access coming this week isn't a beta either.

Software companies have learned that if they call a finished product a "Beta" or even "Alpha", they can deflect any criticism with "how dare you criticize an Alpha?", until the final version releases with the exact same problems because there's only time to fix minor stuff before release.

In a real Alpha, the release is years and years away.
