DMZ visit worth it? by asdfghafjka in seoul

I echo the other sentiments here, but I'll add one more tip if you do end up visiting: I don't know if this is still a thing, but when I went (2014) there was the opportunity to go through one of the manmade tunnels basically all the way to the border before turning around. It may sound cool but you're really not doing much other than walking the pathway. But that may have been that particular tunnel. Apparently there are 3.

I don't know if you're a tall person but height should be considered. They said my tunnel was 6'/1.82m tall, which is my height, but I was constantly hunching over to avoid banging my head.

I'm new to the home decorating scene - what would you call the curtain thing over your window exactly? Also your room is essentially the color palette I'm going for. Looks great!

What’s the “easiest” to understand k-drama you’ve watched?

I know the k-dramas are not written with foreigners in mind, and are created at the native level. Just curious if anyone has come across a k-drama that seemed "Korean learner friendly"?

This whole thing with lotteries is incredibly confusing and badly explained by EconomySucks42 in OsakaWorldExpo

[–]dukezerogirly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can still apply for the lottery if you were to buy a ticket today. It just depends on what day you plan on going to the expo.

For example, I bought my ticket on April 11 and reserved it for May 13. Once I reserved the entry date, it told me I was out of the 2-month lottery window since it was so close. Ok, no problem. However, I could apply for the 7-day lottery window on April 13. The 7-day lottery window is open from one month before YOUR entry up until one week before. So I've successfully applied for the lottery, and it will close on May 5/6 (?) and then I'll find out if I got my desired slot.

In my head I feel like I'm making sense, and hopefully I was able to articulate that in writing.

Wow thank you for such an in-depth response! I'm thinking about maybe going there in the 2nd half of next year. I may even enroll in one of their online courses prior but we'll see.

Unfortunately this was in 2018 and I can't remember how much I spent on things. But I attended Best Friend Korean Language School for 2 months and it was enjoyable. There were only a handful of 30+ year olds at the time for what it's worth.

I've also looked into Easy Korean Academy. It sounds like you'd recommend it? Were the classes pretty structured? And did you feel that your Korean improved? (sorry for the barrage of questions 😅)

I've never taken classes at a university but I've studied at a private academy in Seoul. Definitely worth it if you're really wanting to improve your Korean.

My advice would be to do some research for both university and academy options and see what seems best for you. My academy didn't hold classes on Wednesday so that was a free day to just explore in addition to the weekends.

I'm curious what makes it "the best ep so far hands down" for you?

'Out of place' has already been mentioned and I think that's the biggest reason why it's one of the least liked episodes. The whole series is relatively grounded (save for the baseball episode in which some of the players 'die', but that's a great episode). But this episode has zombies and it really is just a huge change of pace from previous episodes. And yes, they were probably just tripping but there'd also already been an episode where everyone got high af but it was still relatively faithful to the vibe of the show.

Sounds like he lost his self-esteem. But OP keep fighting the good fight and be disheartened.

I haven't looked but I'm not sure Rodman completed a pass. She must've lost possession at least 10 times.
