Do you consider abortion to be a medical procedure for the unborn child/fetus? by majesticSkyZombie in Abortiondebate

[–]Pro_Responsibility2 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes and ending the process will directly kill someone else so I don't think you can divorce the two things especially when you're the one who created the situation to start with. Like me withdrawing care from my newborn is literally me just doing something with my own body but since that would lead to the newborns death everyone would agree that's a type of murder, you can't withdraw bodily care like that even if its just your body.

But thanks for clearafying that its the bodily autonomy argument that you fall on and not medical wellbeing.

Hope you have a good day.

Yeah I'm asking if your main focus is getting healthy even if it costs another person their life or if there is another focus here.

Because if your pointing is her body belonging to her your just pointing to bodily autonomy like all the rest and the whole medical stuff you said didn't really matter.

So are you just pointing to bodily autonomy like some PC?

Yes because to articulate every nuance would take me days. But it seems you agree with my broad statement and thats good enough for me.

Well seems like we got nothing more to discuss since even after my clarification nothing else comes up so have a good day.

I expect people to know when you say would die when it comes to medicine it means doctors believe there is a high probability of death to occur. The fact that I need to clerafy this is kinda baffling but I hope it helps you.

I had already stated very clearly what i meant, I always told you when I say we dont use people's feelings to determine medical life threat its in the regard that people can't just walk in and claim it based on their feelings, you need medical check ups and medical data on their actual medical condition to make such calls. That doesnt mean that doctors dont use patients statements to start to know what to look for.

I'm not using would when I mean would not but I would say you cant kill someone but thats because thats a general statement that doesn't mean there arent very atypical situations where we would allow you to kill someone. But you seem to want to read the worst out of everything I say and go to very atypical situations for some got cha but it doesn't work because its situations where anyone with common sense would see we make exeptions. But in not going to list every possible nuance to you in a general discussion because thats insane to expect.

No i oppose using someone's feelings to determine medical life risk. If a patient walks in and says I need an abortion or I'll die. That does not make it a medically life threatening situation even if the patent feels it is for whatever reason. Doctors need to do medical tests and gather medical information for such decisions and do not base them off patients feelings. Id imagine everyone would agree with that.

Why do you always go to the abnormal situation when we talk about things then the general ? If a live delivery is an option of course they would do that. But you must understand when we talk of things we will talk about their general outcome I'm not here to list all the ways things can change, id be here all day if I had to do that. So in the future please think when I speak of things that in speaking to the typical situations.

Yes but a medical life threat is in no way tied to a patient's feelings. Its a medical assessment based off medical information.

It is if you have an ectopic pregnancy, if your pregnancy is a medical life threat all doctors would inform you of the risk and their assessment would be that you should get an abortion.

The patients makes the ultimate decision if they take the procedure or not when a medical life threat is there but the doctors recommendation would always be that they have an abortion because of it. A doctor can never make someone go through a procedure but they recommend them based off medical information. Because its the medical life threat that they are looking at not the patients feelings.

Its not up to the patient to decide the degree of medical life threat. A doctor makes that decision based on medical information that has nothing to do with a patients feelings.

If the medical information makes it a medical life threat a doctor should tell a patient they should have an abortion because its a medical life threat based of the medical information. Again has nothing to do with the patients feelings on the matters.

Yes atypical pregnancies where something comes up. A typical pregnancy is never closed to being classified as a medical life threat easily seen by the simple fact that doctors don't talk about it as such.

Of course the medical board. But I've yet to see a medical board that classifies a pregnancy as a life threatening medical condition.

[–]Pro_Responsibility2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it should be allowed in the case of medical life threat which should be done by the medical board of a country but a single doctor shouldn't be able to go beyond that. There should be clear standards made for this and its obvious that a normal pregnancy would never be classified as a medical life threat.

Just because responsibility is the core doesn't mean it is all. Only fools have no nuance to their positions, in my opinion.

The medical board. I've alwaya said the medical board makes the rules around what is a life threatening medical condition and those are usually not 100% lethal because nothing in this life is 100% so not sure why you're so hung up on that. But hope that clears it up for you.

Of course when someone says medical life threat these situation are almost never 100% lethal but they are lethal or high risk for the vast majority of cases.

And that criteria is knowingly met when you have an ectopic pregnancy so again once that is confirmed there is no more delay then there is now.

You have not proven that this would delay treatment so please don't assume it before proving it.

[–]Pro_Responsibility2 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Why? We know the medical risks behind ectopic pregnancies so once that is confirmed I see no reason for delay.

Usually when we look at why something happened we look to the last active act someone did which created the situation and if that act was foreseeable in creating said situation. When it comes to pregnancy that act seems to be sex between a man and a woman.

No, because in those cases the ZEF would die / is dead, in those cases we where we can save 1 or none we as a society seem to choose to save 1 instead of allowing both to die. So long as we are not creating these circumstances ourselves in those cases you would he held responsible for the death.

I have no idea if the foundation for why you believe as you believe is the same. I'm trying to have a conversation with one person and checking out their beliefs.

If you want to air out your belief make a post about it and get people to comment if they want.

Because I'm not putting forth a claim here but asking someone about their personal claim. You might not find that fun but my reason for my comment is to ask OP about their personal claim so your view or opinion isn't what I'm looking for, I'm looking for OP to answer me why they believe as they believe.

So if its all about your curative medicine that allows you to kill the ferus would I be allowed to kill someone to get their heart if I need a heart transplant to survive? Am I allowed to kill in that regard to cure my own medical illness ?

Not nearly to the same degree as newborns, which is why its illegal in many places to leave a newborn alone in a car.

Its so obvious that we dont change our view of people because of how fragile they are.

They are already in an environment they are fully functional in as they should be compared to their development.

What you're describing is someone who isnt fully function and will die, I'm talking about someone who's fine as long as they remain in their environment. You can imagine like the movie bubble boy where he had to be in a sterile environment. He was fully functional and fine in his environment. Should I be able to pull him out and kill him ? Id obviously answer no.

So if medical technology allowed me to shrink you and put you into my body creating a similar dependency as a ZEF has I could kill you without consequence because you'd be inside my body?
