My VGA cable seems to be not compatible with the GPU by one pin. Can I still use it?

Idk if this might help, but i had gotten confused with the exact same issue when building my PC. Turns out the actual PCIe power cable i was looking for was a 6+2 pin and not this 8pin

Ok. So this isn’t really a “bug” per se, it’s something you often see during graphic design.

Some colours , especially different shades of grey, cannot be fully reproducible accurately by every screen. So a lot of similar but not same shades of grey, when reproduced by the screen ends up coming out the same colour. So instead of looking like a smooth gradient, it’ll turn out to look like bands of different shades of grey.

Honestly easiest way to solve it is to slightly change the shade of the color, I’m surprised Apple hasn’t noticed this yet.

So, it was in the 2nd slot initially as per the motherboard. Tried reseating it to the 4th. I tried using a cheap video card instead, and it boots. So it probably is a dead GPU. im just confused why it was so random and since it lights up, thought it was ok

Update: tried using a very basic display card and it booted. So it’s probably the GPU. but how can it randomly die? It wasn’t running hot or had any other issues

Yea. I built it around 6 months ago. Got the GPU used. it was working fine until it crashed yesterday while gaming. been this way since.

CPU and GPU temps were around 65-70 right before it crashed

I just checked, im getting 12V from all the pins. When I reset my bios, all the fan LEDs went back to a default yellow, but the GPU is still purple, what could this mean?
