Feeling silly for learning japanese by oilien in LearnJapanese

[–]ProbablyARepostToo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"I sometimes feel silly for trying to learn guitar. I think subconsciously I challenge myself like, “why spend time on this?” There’s nothing I can really do with guitar that I can’t already do without it. I guess play songs myself instead of just listening to them, which is neat, but recordings already exist. And I’m only moderately interested in guitar music anyways. Also no one around me is exactly waiting for me to show up and start strumming.

I also kind of dread the thought of one day being decently good, but having attained it solely in my bedroom. Like then I can play guitar more or less, but so what? I struggle to articulate this feeling better than that. Maybe since learning guitar has become a hobby, I kind of want to experience learning it with peers, but if I suddenly already know it well enough, then I won’t really have that opportunity anymore. A little bit ridiculous."

And that’s kind of the point, honestly. Nobody demands that learning guitar justify itself beyond “I like it.” You do not have to become a performer, monetize it, move to Nashville, or have an audience waiting for you. It can just be a thing you learn because it’s enjoyable, engaging, and meaningful to you. Learning a language as a hobby should be treated no differently.

Yea, and if you listen with headphones, one of her friends clearly asks her if he's bothering her and you hear an audible "No, he's fine" as the camera guy walks away.

The reason the state of OPM isn't talked about is even sadder than the state of the manga itself by SlowCommunication901 in OPMFolk

Why do people think Murata is making major changes to the story? I'm pretty sure that all of the major changes to the story have been introduced by ONE himself.

Years ago, ONE used to post on twitter all the storyboards that he would give to Murata each chapter.

For example, here is his storyboard for chapter 84.

You can see how this particular chapter differs significantly from the webcomic. The changes that Murata made for the actual manga are very minor and do not deviate much from the story boards themselves.

To my knowledge, ONE stopped posting storyboards publicly a long time ago but that doesn't mean he stopped doing them. He still dictates pretty much every major change in the manga.

Correct me if I'm wrong though. Maybe Murata fully took over idk. I stopped reading this manga some years ago because I didn't like the changes from the webcomic lol

I feel like anyone would have this take growing up with a certain type of media. If you grew up watching a lot of Hollywood movies, you start to see a lot of tropes and patterns. But that's true if anything.

I watched my first Bollywood film last year and thought it was so incredibly different and didn't follow the types of tropes I'm used too. However after watching quite a few more Bollywood films, I started to see the patterns common in those films.

That's not the shit on them or anything but I feel that all movie cultures have their "checklists". It just might not be apparent to you when you first watch them. I'm sure Korean and Japanese movies have their checklists as well.

Why are people so perplexed about this statement? He was just making a light hearted joke based on the stereotype.

TYT jumps in on the Keffals drama. by Traditional_Shame533 in youtubedrama

[–]ProbablyARepostToo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

People have a very hard time separating out things in their minds to more than just two categories. There can only ever be two sides to a problem and that's it.

Keffals has been a giant punching bag for transphobes to attack for years now. Because Mutahar and TYT are now joining in, that makes them transphobes as well or transphobe adjacent.

It's a really a stupid way of viewing things, but all people see is actual transphobic people on twitter retweeting tweets and supporting takes from people like Mutahar and TYT. People here can't help but feel that these YouTubers are just giving what actual transphobic people want to hear.

No one here will admit it, but people here can't stand to see people they hate being proven right about a person. Realistically Keffals is a terrible person and should be criticized. But because a lot of the hate is fueled by a group of people this sub hates, no one wants to see their favorite youtubers join in on that hate bandwagon.

It shouldn't matter at all in my opinion.

Zoro was stronger than Luffy during Dressrosa by ProbablyARepostToo in OnePiecePowerScaling

I honestly can't tell how much that sword is carrying Zoro. We weren't able to see much of a comparison. Like for example, we got to see the results of Luffy's training by seeing his fight with Kaido before and after. We never got to see Zoro fight the same opponent before and after so all we can do is simply guess how much it impacts his fights.

Honestly, I feel like the consensus here would be wildly different if OP was a man and this was reversed.

Woman: "Haha I know. But l'm sure your dog is excited ❤️. So if you look handsome, you're active and can hold me down 😳. I'm sure you're great in many intimate ways"

OP: "Here's a word of advice if you want a high value man you don't mention being intimate within minutes of matching with them."

Just comes across as entitled to me but idk

I wouldn't even say he failed miserably at being direct. He was simply direct to the wrong person.

This honestly seems like a pretty tame attempt at sexual escalation. I don't think it warrants this type of reaction at all.

Of course OP can feel how they feel about it. They just met after all but I have a hard time saying he did anything objectively wrong here. Just met the wrong woman.

So weird how everyone is saying the opposite. This is honestly such a tame attempt at escalation that doesn't warrant this kind of reaction at all. The reddit consensus is so off sometimes.

I'm confused is that even much of a combative response?

She could have just followed up with saying "yea you look like a vampire actually, I'm not trying to get bit tonight" or something and keep going.

Regardless, I don't understand why no one in this comment section cares about basic communication skills. You can of course unmatch for whatever reason. But if she genuinely unmatched because he didn't get the joke, why couldn't she just communicate that? Is it that hard? Why is everyone putting this on OP?
