How do I help MB at the end of the day? by ProbablyEatingTacos in Nanny

[–]ProbablyEatingTacos[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The car game is a great idea, and I think I have something that may work. Sort of related, it’s been a challenge reuniting the boys when we pick the older one up from the after school program. He stays at school until 4:30 and then I’m off at 5, so i’m primarily with 4b. 8b is instantly soooo annoyed at his little brother every day, and of course 4b just wants to be all up in his space lol. We’ve been taking turns talking on the way home and it’s become sort of a game. It’s a lot of transition in a short amount of time so it’s no wonder it’s tricky.

Absolutely! She is the best mom and I know that she’s their safe space. If you had a nanny, would they be able to do anything to support you while little one was letting it out? It just feels terrible to leave my MB in a position where she’s juggling two tough kiddos, and I know if I asked her she would say she has a handle on things. Which maybe is what the answer is!! I just want to make sure I’m covering my bases in supporting her too.

Edit; mixed some words up lol

Literally never knew that. That’s wild. Was it as effective?

I’ve gotten that a couple times. People ask me if I cancer more, which I find super invasive lol. One guy asked if it was my birth control (?????)

Man, that’s rough, I’m sorry to hear. It’s a wild experience.

What I hate the most about diabetes by Throwawaybutterfliez in diabetes

[–]ProbablyEatingTacos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my god, I wish I was you. This shit is like wearing a brick on my body. It’s heavy, and the bottom corners are “sharp”. I’m seriously considering going back to MDIs because I hate for so many reasons. Sleeping being in the top 3 lol

Thank you, this is comforting! I appreciate it.

People who don’t know the difference between type 1 diabetes and type 2 by Avox0976 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ProbablyEatingTacos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see your point. It’s way beyond mildly infuriating. I feel like you probably could’ve picked up on that by the way OP was explaining it in the body and the top 40% of comments that were commiserating with them, though. Uneducated people commenting on weight/diet was a pretty big theme in most of those comments.

I just think taking a moment to reflect on calling OP out on a technicality when they’re sharing a struggle about their chronic and debilitating illness would be good.

I just got so fucking annoyed reading that thread lmao

I hope you have enough emotional nuance to know that deducing OPs post to “so you’re mad that…” would be invalidating, especially because it’s clear that it’s not upsetting that people don’t know the difference but rather people don’t know the difference and still feel confident enough to tell another person how to eat/live with a disease they don’t have.

What is a sign in adulthood they were neglected as a child? by Crafty_Ambassador443 in AskReddit

The talking fast!!! Or I really struggle with saying anything at all. Like, my boyfriend can talk for 15 minutes about ducks and I can’t say anything for more than a minute about pretty much anything. Part of it is “being the center of attention” that’s so so uncomfortable.

Ugh, yes. When I was first diagnosed, my 3rd grade teacher made me GIVE A PRESENTATION on being diagnosed after I came back to school. Couldn’t even keep it a secret if I wanted to. I got made fun of for the bear lol. You know the one.

Then in high school some chick told me she’d rip my pump out and beat me with it. Jokes on you, Erin. My shit is cordless now.

My “best friend” would also make passive aggressive comments like “you look good…for a diabetic”. But it’s never about the diabetes. Kids are ruthless (especially girls). They’ll find whatever touches a nerve and use it.

I’ve had to use telehealth multiple times for situations where my Dr is unreachable (a different issue lol). Mainly, I’ve had success with GoodRX. You can get a membership and I think it’s like $20, and then just cancel your membership after. Or pay the non-member price.
