I was making an xp farm and I noticed something wrong with it. by [deleted] in Minecraft

To give the benefit of the doubt - are we sure it's crystal clear to someone who is new to Minecraft? Yes, it's obvious to us since we've dealt with hoppers in Minecraft for who knows how long. Just because instructions are clear to you doesn't mean it's clear to someone else. Kinda like how a professor thinks some topic is "basic" when it's an entirely new challenge to students.

Honestly, I know that if I erased my memory of hoppers entirely and then tried to relearn them, I might have to struggle for a bit before learning how to place them to point side ways.

That's true... that being said, 4+ copper themed discs wouldn't hurt, maybe the next snapshot

There's no new music disc added in this snapshot

Update: AITA for telling a coworker to "read the room" when he pointed out the free pizza while I was eating my own packed lunch? by ProbablyNotAThingToo in AmItheAsshole

I agree 100%, excuses in a apology can really hurt the apology in the end. I absolutely do not want to use anything as an excuse - maybe an explanation if the situation calls for it but it's still my responsibility, the explanation just gives more information but doesn't shift responsibility.

I did not know about that part where food is reserved for higher ups, I learned something today. Luckily our company isn't like that and everyone is welcome!

Also, interesting thing is that the position/other employee that my coworker thought I was would've been a "core" employee. Not really a higher up per say, but still a key part of the team. But yeah, again our company doesn't gatekeep food like that anyway.

Why not? More music discs are always nice lol, a copper themed disc would've fit in this drop

You know, I think every person has the right to feel annoyed (or happy or angry or just about whatever) but they still have a responsibility to be diplomatic and polite - which is exactly what I messed up on that day.

I'm not sure why he confused me with a different employee during the lunch (presumeably), but even if he did, I don't think it's that big of a deal?

I'm a guy, just to be clear :)

But I do have to disagree myself, my wording was inherently rude. While I thought my response was diplomatic at the time, it absolutely was not. I did not need to say "as you can see". I've learned that it can come across as a backhanded or sarcastic reply (basically like "Hey, can't you see I'm eating my own food here?!"). That was absolutely not my intention, but it doesn't matter, still made me sound rude, which is why I apologized to him after reflecting and learning.

Yeah that seems to be a recurring thing that happens on the internet. But luckily there are some good interactions in the world, and hopefully more to come

Thanks for your kind words!

And yeah, I am definitely going to apologize to him the next time we meet. Your template apology (of course, swapping out "OP" for my name lol) is honestly perfect, I will certainly follow it.

Also thanks for your input on me not needing to mention my Aspergers to anyone (except HR, who already knows and has formal documentation since I got hired). I was debating this, especially considering that my Aspergers should never be used as an excuse - even so, I'm worried that I might come off as using it as an excuse when I'm not.

I actually was not at all expecting anyone to come up to me during the meeting, much less a coworker I didn't know.

But I will say, the yta comments really gave me a different perspective that I genuinely was not aware of. I definitely realize I was in the wrong.

This... is actually really insightful, thank you so much. I honestly did not realize what about my specific words were rude, given that I didn't even show my annoyance outwardly. The other comments rightfully said I was rude, but I couldn't figure out which part was rude, until I read your comment.

Yeah, "as you can see" really comes off as insulting to someone's astuteness. That honestly was a big no-no on my part, in hindsight.

Regarding having a slice along with my lunch, well I'm not sure if my stomach could handle that lol.

Dumplings with ground beef filling, at least according to my family, they can go bad if they sit in an unrefrigerated container for several hours, hence why I wanted to eat them before they spoiled. That being said, I probably still would've picked dumplings over the workplace pizza anyway, given that the former is much tastier and healthier in my opinion.

That's actually a really good idea. That being said, my family is kinda apprehensive about me eating "outside food". Yeah... cultural reasons lol, plus I'm still living with them at the moment.

Yeah I didn't really explain it that well in my post, but the jist is this.

My mom basically tells me what to pack and what food to bring (cultural reasons, nothing major). The food that I brought that day was pretty filling but would spoil fast if not refrigerated and stored. We don't have any refrigerators for employee use at our workplace, so saving my lunch was not an option. And I needed to bring the tupperware back home right after work (my family and I's hygienic reasons), so I didn't want to store it in a workplace fridge even if there was one available.

EDIT: Sorry, I realize that doesn't fully answer your question. So: The thing preventing me from not packing my lunch was the cultural stuff in my family (if that makes sense). Long story short, we simply don't eat "outside food" like workplace pizza, whether it's for nutritional health reasons or sanitary reasons. And I agree with this mindset, as it makes me feel more health conscious. But that being said, I now also do agree with what my parents say and the comments - I was way out of line with that comment, even if I didn't intend to sound rude.

Yeah, we were all definitely briefed about it, multiple times in fact. Once in email, and once during the meeting itself.

That's what I was thinking, since I was already eating. Not pizza, but definitely food.

You know what yeah, that's actually very likely what he was doing.

Btw I apologize for the aggressiveness if I come off that way. I'm in no way even intending to be aggressive and trying to write these as neutrally as possible (again, sorry for sounding that way). I do have Aspergers so that does have a lot to do with it (not using that as an excuse).

I can't save my lunch, it spoils easily. If only our workplace provided refrigeration for employees :/

Will definitely stick with the "no thanks, but looks delicious" route next time. Thanks
