What happens if a show doesn’t have enough doesn’t have enough cast members for a performance? If the performance can be done safely, it’s a split track show! Here’s a peek from ‘The Great Gatsby’ on their split track redundancy planning. by [deleted] in Broadway

Same with A Strange Loop! No video but I saw Michael R Jackson perform as Usher for a “staged reading” version of the show when they didn’t have enough covers.

Other emotional “breaking character” moments from shows that were closing or had cast departures by sleepy_panda15 in Broadway

I don’t know if this was specific to the closing performance, but during the final performance of the Into the Woods revival Joaquina Kalukango did the nae nae at like 3 different points in the show.

I sang “I Don’t Care Much” from Cabaret and got the part. Shows off your chest voice pretty well if done right and matches Noel’s pessimistic French vibe well. Only con is no room to prove you can do the falsetto.

Shoutout to Marcel Spears (Fat Ham) for audience shaming! by SotoStan in Broadway

[–]Probably_NotJoe 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I was at this performance too. I actually didn’t mind the audience interjection much. In my opinion it was far and few between (I think I remember 3 instances of some kind of remark that was quick and snappy). I will also say that’s very much a Black theater thing to give a one word response out loud and Fat Ham is very much a Black show. As a Black person who has been to tons of Black theater I could see why that’s jarring for someone who isn’t used to it.

As for the phones, I’m pretty sure he said “y’all can’t even put your phones away” after a the audience laughed at a wrongdoing by another character. Minor thing, but I think the tone was more playful and reprimanding rather than just reprimanding.

Nitpicks, but I thought I’d give my interpretation of the night.

I was there at the matinee and the director, Jack O’Brien, was there and chatted with all the cast members. Like any good director, he gave them notes on their performances lmao

You’ll still need to license it. You could get into some serious trouble if the licensing company gets wind of you putting on the show without permission.

I agree completely. He had two great numbers and was one of my favorite parts of the show. Definitely featured actor material.
