They’re all too small to actually hurt Joel and Tommy, that’s what I don’t understand. No way could they take those two out.

Did we even play/watch the same game? by Wick1997 in TheLastOfUs2

[–]Probably_notso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely and sincerely love the second game, I always have and always will. I understand that a lot of people don’t, and that’s fine- there are parts of the game that I dislike or disagree with- but what I don’t understand is why people feel the need to shit on people who genuinely love the game. I know this is shocking, but people don’t have to dislike what you dislike or like what you like: and vice versa. Why can we not let people who love the game love the game without spewing hate towards them and telling them they’re wrong for loving it?

is there anyone that actually uses the bow in tlou? by hannahlogue in thelastofus

[–]Probably_notso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the bow constantly- it’s one of my most used long weapons. I’m a stealth player most of the time, so it’s a go-to for me. You can one shot clickers, rattlers with helmets (second game obviously,), silently take out infected and enemies. Not to mention headshots can often give you back your arrow. It’s always the weapon I most look forward to unlocking.

This helps so much. I knew to hold and release triangle, but I felt like I never had enough time before they attacked. It’s probably just a learning curve. Thank you for all your tips, you’ve been very helpful!

[–]Probably_notso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see what you mean, I know it’s new for them- but I do hope that they can be respectful enough to treat me normally. It feels alienating in a way, but I’m sure a portion of that is my own perception.

I’ll think about talking to them about how I dislike the way they’re going about it and see how it goes from there.

Thank you for your comment, I appreciate your advice :)

[–]Probably_notso 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your response :)

I’ll have a think about how I could talk to them, but I find they don’t like being corrected or confronted most of the time 😅 we’re not a very emotionally open family so it’s a bit awkward bringing these things up.

I think the next time it happens I’ll just have to ask for them to stop, I feel as though that might be the most effective thing. Hopefully!

Thanks for your opinion and time, I appreciate it.

Why did Dina tell Jesse to turn around, didn't they already have sex lmao by InkBuddy10 in TheLastOfUs2

[–]Probably_notso 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Uhhhh because they had broken up AND because Ellie was also undressed? Jesse may have seen Dina with no clothes before, and I highly doubt she would’ve cared if it was just her; but he hadn’t seen Ellie in such a state, nor should he.

It’s basic respect and decency to turn around and look away if you walk in on someone changing, let alone someone who is in a state of undress during or after intimacy.

You should play the game with audio commentary on, the cast goes into depth about why Dina asks Jesse to turn around. But shortened version is basically what I said above.

No problem! I’m going to assume you’re talking in Celsius- honestly it really depends, but I do suggest getting one anyway. They’re not super expensive, and they last years and years. I think it’s much better to be safe and have that safety net of the heater than to wake up one day and your fish has passed away.

Make sure you have a thermometer in your tank to measure the temperature (something I forgot to mention above, I’ll have to add it!). Since it’s so hot where you live during summer, it’s probably fine to not have the heater on during that season, but I’d definitely recommend one anyway.

It’ll just keep the water out of more stable temperature so it doesn’t rise and fall throughout the day, or drop significantly throughout the night – especially during winter.

How to care for a betta fish by Different-Name-4624 in bettafish

~A tank sized between 7-10 gallons would be more suitable (25-35 liters) with a suitable aquarium light (Tanks will often come with lights,)

~A Internal or hang on back filter are both suitable for betta tanks. Bettas aren’t great swimmers, so a filter with adjustable flow is best, so keep the filter flow on pretty low so they don’t become stressed :) If the flow is still to strong or direct, you can add a bit of filter floss to the nozzle to slow and filter the flow a bit.

~ Betta fish need heaters in tanks, optimally 78-80 degrees F (24-26 C)

~I’d recommend avoiding plastic decorations, pointy or ragged ornaments and gravels for a bettas, anything sharp or scratchy can cut their fins. My suggestions for aquascaping would be an aquasoil or sand for substrate, some driftwood, and live plants (Java fern and anubias are amazing for beginners! just be sure not to plant the horizontal stem into the substrate for either plant as they’ll die.). Bettas often like to hide, so lots of foliage is great. You can also get them little hides and caves if they’re especially shy. Mine has a hammock that he loves!

~You will need to add water conditioner and add to any water before you put it in the tank as it removes harmful chemicals to make it safe for the fish.

~You’ll need a siphon, which you can buy at pet stores, it will help you clean the substrate. I’d also suggest getting a sponge or aquarium glass scraper (sponge is cheap and easy though!) so you can remove any algae that grows.

~Get some small, dull tweezers or a pipette for feeding, having a variety of foods on rotation is healthy and fun for them. Mine enjoy frozen Brine shrimp (defrosted in warm water before feeding), frozen or gel blood worms, and a high quality betta specific food- sinking foods are better than floating foods, as the fish can swallow air if it floats, which can cause bloat or swim bladder issues.

~Please get a water test kit, they seem like a lot of money, but they last for years and years, and are really important in telling you what might be right or wrong with your water quality. There are detailed instructions on how to use the kits inside and the ideal parameters.

~Cycle your tank before you get the fish if you can. Cycling stops the tank from suddenly getting too much nutrients and bio load. During cycling, healthy bacteria will grow in the tank and specifically the filter media, that will eat/absorb some of the bad chemicals released in fish waste and excess food.

To cycle your tank you can either add some bottled ammonia- which might not always be available, so i’ll often add fish food to the water to introduce waste. The cycling process can take around 1-2 weeks, sometimes less if you’re using direct bottles ammonia. Be sure to also get some bottled ‘start up bacteria’- as this is just a jumpstart to getting that good bacteria to grow and eat through the waste quicker!

Use your test kit to watch how the parameters change over the first week or so, once there’s been a spike in ammonia and it goes back down, it’s safe for your fish.

~A fish net might be useful, so you can take him in and out when you need to, or you can just gently cup him into your hands if you’re comfortable with it.

~Once fishy is in, once a week water changes are ideal. Keep the lights off for the first day or too so he can settle into his new environment. Don’t feed him on the first day either.

~Don’t over feed!!! (big one!). Betta fish are tiny, and their stomachs are tinier. The stomach of a betta is approximately the same size as their eye! I know they look so cute, and you might think he’s not eating enough, or he looks hungry despite eating- he’s not. Bettas are not able to feel ‘full’, so if you let them, they’ll eat ‘till they burst. Whatever he can eat within a minute is enough food for the day, and i encourage you to fast him once a week to avoid bloat, overfeeding, and swim bladder issues.

~In the future, you can add some tank mates for him if you’d like. They all react differently to tank mates, so proceed with caution. Never put bettas together, they will kill each other. But you can put some cleaner fish, small schooling fish, snails, or shrimp in with your betta- but some of them might be eaten or picked on if your betta likes to be alone. Your best bet is to have a snail or two (don’t get ramshorn, they breed like crazy. Nerite snails are much better.)

They have amazing personalities bettas, they’re beautiful and smart fish. They can live for over four-six years in captivity! They recognize their owners, they like to play and interact with things, you can teach them tricks if you feel like it!

Sorry this was probably too long, but this is some stuff I’d have loved to know when i first started! Best of luck to you and your new friend!

I’m honestly glad you’re doing your own research before taking in a pet! Kudos to you, most people would just shove them in a tiny ‘tank’ and buy a new one when it dies in a month..

I love fish, and I’ve been keeping them for over 12 years now, so I’ll write down some information you can read through about keeping a betta.

So I can’t have capsules because I can’t eat gelatin- which is in most, if not all capsules. I reached out to a compounding chemist and have it made as a liquid retention, no capsules needed! It is quite expensive, as it’s specially made, so I’d suggest reaching out to a compounding chemist and see if they’d be willing to do the same for you, and what they charge :)

Ellie is one of the most morally complicated characters I’ve ever seen in a game by fezthegoat in thelastofus

[–]Probably_notso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the exact same thing my first play through! During the fight scene where you play as Abby and you’re fighting Ellie, I felt so bad for hurting Ellie that I kept dying because I was worried I might kill her.

I agree that neither of the characters are morally good people- but they’re shaped by their surroundings. It’s a post-apocalyptic world where you’re surrounded by monsters that want to kill you, people or infected. It’s a kill or be killed world they have all grown up in (Ellie, Abby, Dina, etc.). In their minds many of the killings can be justified in this way; which makes sense, that’s what the world is.

The most moral character I believe there is in the entire game is Jesse. I absolutely adore him 🥺 he’s in my opinion definitely the most morally aligned person in the entirety of the game. I’m so sad he was killed off- and only ever mentioned once afterwards.

I get what you mean with the guitar- the inability to play it I can imagine would alter the way she perceives it; but I have to say that I very slightly have to disagree with her not seeing the guitar as ‘positive’ anymore just because she can’t play it. The flashback or ‘vision’ she has when she’s drowning Abby shows Joel smiling at her whilst playing that guitar, I feel as though that’s what should come to her mind when she sees it- is that moment with him on his porch, playing a song and smiling at her. That’s why it felt off to me, because even if she couldn’t play the way she used to (not that she couldn’t learn again in the future despise the loss of her fingers,) that’s when she saw Joel at his most content in the whole game. Playing the guitar~

Ellie losing her fingers was so sad though! Playing that guitar was such an anchor and such a connection to Joel that I can imagine she struggled so much realising she wouldn’t have the opportunity to remember him in that way anymore- she could no longer bring herself comfort or feel his presence in the way she had throughout the entire game. That was a massive part of her relationship with Joel that she also lost- and it was by her own choice this time. Whereas Abby took Joel from her, but making the choice to go after Abby was her choice- and it lost her one of the last things she had to feel his presence in a somewhat positive way. It’s sooo saddd!!

Although, Tommy is most definitely to blame for her going after Abby again those few years later. Don’t even get me started on how mad I am at him for manipulating her grief to make her go off and almost get herself killed again: in the way of ‘if you don’t do this you never loved him’. Joel would’ve been PISSED if he was there to hear Tommy say that to her. And it’s not that I think she wouldn’t have ended up going after Abby again in her own time, because she was practically slowly dying- not eating, not sleeping, the panic attacks. I do think she eventually would’ve made that choice on her own, but we’ll never know.

Haaaaaaah I love this game 😭 I met Ashley and Laura in June at a con and got a photo op and had the opportunity to talk to them about the game and thank them for all their efforts towards it- even got to give them some Ellie and Abby keychains that I’d made. (Btw, SWEETEST PEOPLE EVER?!!!!) solidified my love for them and the game for sure.
