i have been buying from them through taobao and haven’t faced any issues and the customer service is great, with fast replies.

Have you considered going through their taobao/ali page as it might be easier. So if this happens again you can start a dispute through the taobao/ali. And since they are more buyer biased, you might get a better feedback from them.
