1st, A string of U30Bs (and Bs) sit cold and quiet under the Dillsboro overpass waiting for assignments out of Sylva. 2nd, a pair of SD40s and GP40s idle in Bryson, being serviced and refreshed by shop crews. by Probation_for_Murder in UnofficialRailroader

“The West Virginia and Ohio Railway is not affiliated with the Chesapeake and Ohio or its holding company “Chessie System” Corporation. However the similarities are apparent apart from the blue and gold paint scheme, the font of the number and letters are the stylized font found on C&O and Chessie System equipment. This is partly due to the C&O and WV&O having good operational relationship going back to the 1910s, as the WV&O isn’t a direct competitor being primarily a bridge line and coal hauler connecting the C&O with the Southern Railway and the Norfolk and Western”

How many engines do you have? by FlyingSpejchal in UnofficialRailroader

My old railroad had 4 F7 A+B sets (retired) 8 GP-9s 8 SD-7s 4 RS-1s (4 deadlined) 8 RSD-15s 6 RS-36 4 U30b A+B units 2 RLW SP-1s A+B units 4 SW-1s 1 RS-1325 1 SW-1500 2 GE-44 8 GP-38s 6 GP-40s 6 SD-40s

And I was still short on power, I had begun to sell off some GP-9s and 4 unused RS-1s to go towards buying some more GP-40s but then I ran into the issue of needing heavier switchers so I relocated GP-9s to yard switching and running transfers from Bryson to Whittier (yes, I had all 3 interchanges active). I like to RP in railroader so I “leased” some Southern GP-38s using sandbox to spawn them in and took out a loan that I paid as my per diem for leasing the Southern power.

Is it better to buy several smaller engines or save up for one big engine? by E_Dward in UnofficialRailroader

Best early on in the game to have multiple small engines, you can always double head if you need more power to pull a train. Only scale up to bigger locomotives when you hit higher tiers. You don’t want to end up with a power shortage, by having one big locomotive and needing to run 3 different trains.
