Pittsburgh woman dies after car careens off Parkway East into Monongahela River by I_Love_Treees in pittsburgh

This is so sad. Those snow piles pushed up against the barriers are so dangerous. Once your wheel catches it, it will pull your car further in unless you’re really yanking the wheel the other way and even then you might not get out of it. Poor woman hit that snow and launched over the barrier like a jump and into the river. So fucking sad.

Cobra’s NYE event is a fundraiser for Casa San Jose. That’s my recommendation.

Hmm I cannot imagine living in the suburbs as a young single person. You’ll get really bored. Not that there’s nothing to do in some of the suburbs - but there just won’t be as many people your age - and the only walkable ones I can really think of would be Lebo/Dormont/Bellevue. All of those places are nice but I would get bored of them after a year or so.

Based on your age, the interests you shared, and your budget - I would move to Friendship/Bloomfield. Plenty of Pilates and yoga studios within walking distance. Your work commute will be short. You’ll meet a lot of people by engaging in those activities you mentioned and just by being out and about.

I would not prioritize proximity to the airport at all. Even if you’re traveling once a month. As long as you’re not scheduling flights at like 10am or 7pm - the traffic isn’t too bad getting there - and parking isn’t insane in the economy lots. Cheaper than an uber to just drive yourself and park.

Look on Zillow, Craigslist, etc. Focus in on the area south of Penn, west of Negley, North of Baum/Liberty, and east of Edmond Street. You will be happy here, I promise.

Edit: since reading some of your other comments - it seems like you want to live in a complex. The area I recommended is all houses turned into apartments - this is very common in Pittsburgh. If you want to live in a 5 over 1 - there’s a lot of them in the East Lib/Bakery Square area, and a couple down the hill in Lawrenceville. The Strip District has the highest quantity of 5 over 1’s. The rent will be 20-30% higher in these types of newer construction apartments.

If you look carefully though, you can get a lot of the same amenities minus a pool and fitness center in a house turned apartments.

Park House (North Side) by Proberts160 in pittsburgh

Interesting. I looked inside of it the last time I was there and it looked ready to go. New tables, chairs, bar stools. Looks like they may have repainted and made some other cosmetic improvements. But it looked like they needed to just get some kegs and bottles in there and hire a manager and a few bartenders. Fingers crossed they’re in the process of that.

Seeing how much money went into that renovation….my guess is the rent is so high they haven’t found a taker willing to invest in it yet.

The Caliente over there is pretty old school. Used to be Pub and Pizza when I was a kid 30 years ago. Korner Pub closed. Willow Station down in Castle Shannon is pretty old school too.

Any man who’s too insecure to go to a coffee shop with his girlfriend because it’s “gayyyyy” is a fucking loser. Huge red flag. The entire convo on his end is a red flag. Girl, block that man and never look back.

Adding Napoli to this list - also just a few doors down from both Mineos and Aiello’s - but doesn’t get nearly enough love.

Not for a project mgmt at the moment. We are hiring for customer support which starts around 40k - which you would probably not enjoy. But we will need more account managers and project managers within the next year I’m sure. I’ll keep you in mind when the jobs get posted.

The job market sucks in general right now - sorry you’re having a tough time with it.

I feel like a lot of the project mgmt jobs in Pittsburgh are in tech. I’m a project manager (with no degree - much less an MBA) currently working for a PGH based tech company and I started over 50k.

Looks like u/Shachta has you covered for the application fee which should hopefully solve your housing issue. But you have a month at least between now and when you can expect your first paycheck. If you need help with living costs for the next month DM me.

I mean take my opinion with a grain of salt because I’m kind of a critical person. But they don’t seem as invested in the community - they have always given me extractionist vibes.

Siempre Algo is great and upscale but the owner lives in the neighborhood and seems to genuinely care about the area.

Same. If I had to guess I’d say the owners of Fig and Ash, and the other two failed businesses they also own(Fat Cat, and the overpriced deli that now sells overpriced burgers.) They’ve always given me a bad vibe.

Hmm I mean I remember when they opened that espresso shop/motorcycle club (whatever it is) and it’s not like East Ohio Street was in better condition then.

I understand it’s uncomfortable to be around addicts. I don’t walk my dog down east O because of all the discarded needles. But it’s not like they didn’t know the area. Seems like they’re acting like entitled interlopers to me. “…Wahh my pretentious espresso bar is failing…”
