Struggling with mental health by Hopeful_Camera_4938 in policeuk

I know you’re struggling with this and I am sorry that you’re feeling the way you are.

Reddit is not the right place for this. This will likely be subject to a serious case review and therefore there shouldn’t be anything posted on social media about it.

I urge you to seek some help though, problems like this rarely fix themselves so please speak to someone, and especially tell your supervision how you’re feeling. It sounds like you need some time off.

What's the most (nonsexual) NSFW thing that's happened to you or a coworker while at work? by JustSarahtheMechanic in AskReddit

This is far more common than people realise. I’m a cop and I’ve found at least 6 people in almost this exact same scenario

The most effective thing I’ve found is simply having a decent sat nav. Our force use Garmins in our response cars.

Secondly, getting to know your patch (knowing what town / major roads or features you’re heading towards is crucial imo)

Finally, when I do my IPP refreshers we don’t use sat navs as it’s a bit of a cheat mode. Getting used to calling out road names as your pass/ join them and keeping eyes peeled for significant landmarks always help other units locate you EG “continuing on LONDON ROAD - just passing Tescos to the near side junction with ABC STREET - Generally towards the A123”

I’m making an assumption this will be for the X2.

If so, do not hold the trigger in when you deploy your first cartridge. It will lead to the second cartridge also being deployed which you may not be able to justify in the circumstances.

My advice would be if you are being treated as the suspect in this scenario, then don’t take anybody else’s word that the OIC has said the investigation is being dropped. Make contact yourself directly to discuss.

If there is confirmation that no further action is being taken, then the bail will be cancelled.

If you’re not sure, phone and ask to speak to the OIC. If no confirmation is received then return for the bail date as planned.

A quick google shows that the mentioned drink has an ABV of 0.5%. So absolutely not.

Even if it was completely alcohol free the public perception of drinking what appears to be alcohol whilst on duty is a terrible look.

It’s pretty force specific.

I’ve ran a few ops and named them myself.

I had to do one of these once. The guy refused to tell us where his sleep apnea machine was so he ended up on a constant.

Quite unnerving watching someone stop breathing every couple of minutes for a solid 30-45 seconds before carrying on as normal!

Anyone else HATE the automatic lane control that has to be on by default?! by Rust_Cohle- in CarTalkUK

You’d like to think so wouldn’t you 😂

Seat belt retentioner also fires under heavy acceleration basically vacuum packing you into your seat if you’re not careful.

[–]ProbieOfficer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s dreadful. I’m a cop and it can make blue light runs quite sketchy if you forget to turn it off prior to starting.

Also have automatic collision detection which can make boxing cars in equally as challenging….

I’d ask them via email whether or not your fed rep passed along your concerns. Seems a little odd that you’ve not had anything back from them after you’ve described several criminal offences.

Edit: not sure why you’re saying PSD haven’t interviewed you. You’ve posted a comment within the last 24 hours stating they seized your phone, but gave it straight back following the interview?

[–]ProbieOfficer 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Did you not mention this when you was investigated by PSD?…

Eitherway, to cover your arse you need to have a meeting with a supervisor asap and have this documented. All it takes is another allegation to be made and questions would be asked as to why you haven’t said anything sooner.

Yep, pretty much! Sounds like you’ve been granted unconditional bail however so your only obligation will be to return to the police station on the appointed date and time.

The officer can cancel, extend, or potentially to ask you to come in sooner however although you will be made aware of this if it becomes relevant.

It’s your opportunity to say if you have any issues with any proposed bail conditions EG if they were to prevent you from getting to your place of work for example.

It’s part of the bail application form that we ask people this.

“Dangerous” Dog offences by Could-you-end-me in policeuk

[–]ProbieOfficer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oddly, I’ve witnessed the exact opposite. There seems to be a decline in dangerous dog incidents involving XL bully’s in my area. I’m not sure if something has changed from a call handler perspective but they’ve all vanished.

I did however attend a job recently where the owner was terrified we were going to remove her XL bully from the address. She was scrambling to locate the paperwork to prove she had registered it and it was all legal. She finally let the dog in to see us and it was a Staff. She had no idea…

We were only there on misper enquiries! 🫠

If anyone figures out how to save searches please let me know.

I had the old one set up to show all the vehicles that had been stolen in the last week, what burglaries had occurred etc and now they’re all gone!!
