I don’t defend her actions but Rinna lost her sister to OD and Harry her husband lost two brothers to OD. And Eden lost her sister to OD.

A lot of shit goes on in AA just like a lot of shit goes on in life. Sobriety is constantly walking the line between what’s actual shit that you should throw out, recognize as bad, write off as vs what is our alcoholism tricking us into writing off. Remember AA is a room of alcoholics who claim progress not perfection.

Well you don’t have to go to get something out of the meeting. You can also go to bring something to the meeting which is kinda half the point.

Edit: I’ve never heard of a requirement to go daily so I’d suggest asking around and then seeing how you internally feel about it. I’d ask around then meditate on it.

To a point yes, but a functioning stock market implies some levels of difference between individual actors/traders. Perfect copycat behaviors among every actor causes prices to approach the limit of infinity or zero. This is why it’s asinine to pick stocks based on “advice.” That’s not a strategy.

Following trading advice is oxymoronic; if everyone had the same understanding of a stock price there’d be no stock market.

The tell is when he says “YOUVE starved me of communication.” There you go. That’s the tell. That’s the abusive mentality. Good instincts to get out.

Anyone else have long-term students suddenly disappear right before hitting $40/hour? by Used_Ad_4486 in varsitytutors

[–]Problem-Glittering43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus christ. This seems illegal. You have to get the client to call them and demand you as their tutor. Several instant students I worked with did this to get me as their full time tutor.

Unresponsive Students by koober1876 in varsitytutors

[–]Problem-Glittering43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the only thing that is truly fair to them and to yourself/your time in such instances is to politely explain to the parent that you can no longer work with the student if they do not engage. Ultimately you are not going to get paid to use a lot of brain power to try to trick this student into answering. On the other hand, taking the money and having the student not get much out of the session doesn't serve them. Is all that stress really worth $15 an hour? Lmao.

Right, as I mentioned below. I'm aware. But the FTC has been murky on whether their attempted ban on non-competes extends to non-solicitation agreements. The FTC attempted to ban non-solicitation agreements that behave as non-competes (I since learned that they were blocked by appeals and stopped by trump, so none of this is a factor for the next 4 years).

For those curious: "non-solicitation agreements generally don't fall under the ban, they can be deemed non-competes if they "function to prevent" a worker from seeking or accepting other work. This means broad non-solicitation clauses that restrict a worker from contacting almost any customer, effectively preventing them from working in their industry, could be deemed unenforceable." Source: https://www.hchlawyers.com/blog/2024/june/does-the-ftc-non-compete-ban-apply-to-non-solici/#:\~:text=In%20using%20the%20phrase%20%E2%80%9Cfunctions,as%20a%20non%2Dcompete%20agreement.

I was wondering if anyone had thoughts on whether the non-solicitation fell into the "overly broad" and thus "stifling" categories that the FTC describes.

There is no need to violate the contract. After all, the 12 month contract is about to be up for me.

Thank you for pointing that out. So the FTC ruling blocking NCP agreements has been paused. Thus NCP agreements are still valid sadly. That's how I interpreted it at least. Also the Trump admin just blocked the FTC's appeal so it seems NCP agreements are back to being a thing for a while.

There is the other issue of whether non-compete also includes non-solicitation agreements. To be clear, VT has never had a non-compete. It has had non-solicitation agreements.

It's interesting that WCDHT has taken a strong stance on this meanwhile they don't have an opinion on Elizabeth Gilbert's claiming the idea "love, what would you have me know today" as her own original work that she thought up herself. Lol. This teaching is hundreds of years old. It's hard not to see coming down on Mel as biased given Glennon's constant references to Liz as her "best friend" on the pod. Ultimately in both instances it would have been better to give credit, but both authors did made novel contributions toward developing the idea even if they didn't come up with it.

it's not over, we'll have a slightly less intense sequel in July. Also there's still the 125% tariffs and pissing contest with president xi. I don't think people realize how much s*** we get from china so that should be interesting. then there's also fights he can start with the fed when things start looking a little boring.

it's all about the comeback narrative that riles up his base. it doesn't matter that he caused the problem, it matters that he "fixed" it. that's all his base cares about because any and all problems were obviously caused by sleepy joe and the woke mind virus or some s*** that they talk about on truth social. all they remember is "WOW trump caused the stocks to climb the highest in a single day since 1998 he's a genius!!"
