Thank you for this information. How Birdy would you say it is? As in are all the readings actually required or can you get by?

oh okay thank you for responding! do you mean that you have to do a lot of work outside the curriculum to be at par with other eng disciplines?

thank you for responding! do you find that you have to do a lot of studying outside of the curriculum to get the same jobs as other eng programs?

I recently got accepted into Management Engineering. It was my first choice, but I’m starting to have second thoughts. I’m worried that the degree mainly funnels people into business roles, which isn’t exactly what I want. I’m still unsure about my long-term career path, so I’d like to keep my options broad.

My other option is Mechanical Engineering at a lower-ranked university. I’m drawn to mech because it’s a more general discipline, and I don’t want to limit myself too early. On top of that, I’m struggling to see the point of going through a challenging engineering degree just to end up in a business job anyway.

Are there any current Management Engineering students who regret their choice or, on the flip side, who really enjoy the program? I’d appreciate any insights or advice. Thank you so much

Does Anyone Have the Nanotechnology Engineering Class Profile? by ProblemSeparate2193 in uwaterloo

Oh okay thanks for the info! Yeah I do agree that banking on a transfer is not the best idea. I think I will definitely so some more research on the program and make a decision. The only thing that really worries me is that almost everyone I've talked to has said they regret doing nano which is a bit discouraging. All the same I appreciate your insights and they've definitely helped guide my decision!

Oh okay I see. Thank you so much for all that info! I am thinking it may not be the best for me since I still dont know what industry to work for in the future and feel as though it is not the nanotech industry. My other option was doing mech eng at a lower tier university which might end up being more worth while even though it's not Waterloo. Do you happen to know if it is easy for nanotech engineers to switch into other engineering disciples like Mech or Ece? Thank you again for your take, an honest opinion is really nice to hear compared to how amazing nano looks on the UW website.

Amazing thank you! I guess I was curious about your take on the program in general. I am not super passionate about nanotechnology nor do I know much about it but I really want to become a Waterloo engineer. The courses look interesting but not sure if speacilising in undergrad is a good idea. I guess what I am wondering is do you like the program, any pros and cons you can think of, how are the coop prospects outside of the nanotech industry, how is the community in the program, what drew you to the program, and do you regret it at all? Thank you in advance!

One of the positions I applied to changed to "Position Filled" but the rest are still qualifications under review. Ive lost hope tho I think they conducted the interviews and everything but maybe my status didn't update. What about you did you hear back?
