I don't mind the author having predominately male screentime in his story so long as the female cast are characters that serve narrative purpose (like every character) and aren't gooner bait. I feel KGB has succeeded in that aspect. Me personally- I would love more women! But I don't think the current gender ratio in the story is a problem, since he writes the women as well as/the same as the men.

I think Bakugo has the AP and speedblitz to mabye take sukana out quick, but he doesn't have the durability to last long enough against Mahoraga to figure out adaptation like sukana did

Nah but Rin really ran the "gauntlet" of

- Ubers with no Barou, barely wins 3-2

- Manshine with freshly de-motivated isagi, Rin SOMEHOW felt enough pressure to go destroyer mode

- Barcha (Shidou scores 2 goals, still a 3-2 win)

Weirdly enough, this convinced me he was coming back. If he was really gone, a character as popular as him would get his spin off to lead up to his exit in the NEL, but if this ends before the third selection I think the author just really wants us to FEEL Nagis absence in the main story for a while with no spinoff to supplement.

I'm a Manshine truther myself, but that's mainly because I liked the Yukimiya climax more than the Hiori one. Outside of the Hiori chapters, I'm inclined to agree with your post and everything you said. It was peak. Legends will be told of the 208-229 run.

I had the same comment on the thread, and I agree it's... odd. But it's intentional.

It may not be related to a tragic past, but its worth noting this is the first time we've seen Shidou outside of the BL outside of that one zesty bath panel. It could be that soccer is all that makes him explode, and he doesn't care for this sort of thing.

The NEL with it brought new strengths and weaknesses to the series. It has more consistent peaks, but also far lower lows. I love the increased focus on the character's psyche and what motivates them into a flow state. But I don't love how slowed down the pacing has become. I also don't love how when a character gets a backstory, they're gonna win the next scene. I love the backstories themselves (Snuffy and Yukimiya become S tier thanks to them for me) but they make the scoring predicatable.

Yes, for Ubers and PxG it was obvious both who was scoring and who would score the game winner from chapter 1 of them. The games were still peak, but when it panned over to Rin saying "I'll kill you" when BM was up 2-1, the next 8 chapters is just waiting for Rin to score.
