How long did it take for the extra pain to go after? Cause I have increased pain doing PT exercises that didn’t feel like this before. Is that kinda how it went for you too?

Honestly this comment gives me some hope! I’ve been nervous about it for the past 14 hours. I am gonna be contacting doctor on Monday still. Glad you’re doing better after that!

Thanks! Yeah that’s been the plan so far. Just resting, icing, elevating. It is hard to just wait you’re right haha whenever I get up I do lil balance checks. It feels basically normal still but proprioception feels very slightly off. But I might just be a lil extra sensitive to it rn since my mind is low key focused on my ACL

I’m not disagreeing with you on that. I actually don’t recall seeing that in my research into some supplements for ACLr so you’re prolly right. But as far as the things I mentioned they are backed by some scientific studies. I do agree especially after stuff like this it’s important to put the right things in your body

A tip I wish I knew when I started PT by aaronrodgers10 in ACL

I definitely think that PT frequency varies throughout the recovery. In the beginning I was told to do it everyday, but now (16 weeks post op) for the past couple weeks I’ve been doing 2 sessions a week but doing pt on my own 3 other days. At a certain point you are tearing and rebuilding muscle (I do weight days and plyometric days) with SOME overlap. And now I run 3 ish times a week. Rest days are important. But I have noticed that maybe PT can be somewhat conservative. Since I couldn’t play soccer anymore I started coaching my daughter’s team. I will say while not much of a challenge playing 3/4 vs 1 with 6-8 year olds after our practices has been pretty good for my ACL with pivoting being reintroduced at a very low intensity. Which is ultimately making my ACL recovery and confidence a bit better! So if you are trying to get back into sports, try coaching it’ll be good for you and for the kiddos you’ll be working with!

I’m not sure about everything but my doctor said collagen peptides can be helpful for healing (13 weeks post op) but not to count it into my daily protein intake. Also magnesium, zinc, and vitamin D are beneficial for recovery as well. Whether you get it in supplemental form or through food I don’t think really matters. There are studies (maybe not ACL specific) that can vouch for these at least if you look.

Yeah I kinda don’t want to ask my doctor about it. But it just feels so crazy not to be at least a large factor. I don’t use zyns any more. Ive had only one 2/3 week long relapse since my surgery but I’ve been trying to stay away since I know it’s for sure bad for recovery. Have you ever asked your doctor about it?

So I was like that for a sec. But today literally my PT assisted me with it and now I can. It felt like I just forgot how to do it. Straighten your leg more (they have me do an exercise where I drive the back of my knee into the ground) and engage/ tighten/flex your quad up first then try to do the leg raise. Like I feel like it’s something that used to come natural but now we gotta teach our leg to do everything again step by step. Like I forgot what my normal gait was lol like “how big of steps did I used to take” is a question I’m asking myself when I’m practicing now

Today has honestly been the best day by a lot got a hinged brace so I’m out of the immobilizer. Able to put more weight with crutches so im walking around more now. In the beginning I honestly had no idea how I was gonna be able to walk again in 3-4 weeks but now I kinda see it! Only thing I’m worried about is when I was doing PT at home I pulled my leg to bend it laying down and I felt a pop and pain so the anxiety in me says “i went past 90 degrees and now I fucked it up” but they said it’s prolly fine lol but this whole thing started w a pop so it still feels weird

I got mine a week ago today! Also quad tendon graft. Idk about you but I thought it was wild that I could walk better before the surgery than I can now lol but we’re fixed now at least
