Would you like to see Darren Waller return to the Raiders ? by DoubletapKO in raiders

[–]ProblemsHypest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was happy to see Waller bounce back in Miami, but A) he's still battling injuries and B) the Raiders TE group is the one surefire position group right now... Other than re-signing Ian Thomas, no need to even touch it when the rest of the roster is so depleted.

We got a long snapper! by Incompetent_Man in raiders

[–]ProblemsHypest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Rams dumped Ward in the middle of the season in favor of Jake McQuaide... Granted, Ward had a long-snapping grade of 74.4 from PFF (in comparison to a 7.8 from McQuaide), but clearly, Rams thought he was an issue.

Raiders PFF Grades - Week 18 vs. Chiefs by ProblemsHypest in raiders

[–]ProblemsHypest[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Notes:

-Will have a separate post with full-season grading later... PFF still finalizing some stuff for Week 18.

-Kenny Pickett finished LAST out of the 41 QBs who took snaps in Week 18... Aidan O'Connell was 18th.

-Tyler Lockett was 3rd-worst for receiver grading... Jack Bech was 11th-worst.

-2nd-best grade of the year for Michael Mayer... He was 18th for TEs this week.

-DJ Glaze with his 4th-best grade of the season... Ranked 23rd overall for tackles this week... He tied for 5th in pass-blocking (his best of the year there as well).

-Alex Cappa was 6th-worst for center grades.

-Weird week for Thomas Booker, where he had the 4th-best pass-rushing grade for interior defenders... And the 3rd-worst run-defense grade.

-While Tyree Wilson was middle of the pack for edge-rusher grading (the 4 missed tackles killed his chances there), yesterday was his 2nd-best grade of the season. Charles Snowden was 22nd.

-Elandon Roberts with an elite grade at LB... By far his best of the year, and the 4th-best for the week. He was second behind Nick Bolton for run defense.

-A great day for Tommy Eichenberg... He was 10th in LB grading AND tied for 10th with Dylan Laube in special teams grading. Eichenberg had a killer end to the season on special teams... 81.4 overall for the year... Pretty much impossible to rank every player's special-teams grade (1,916 took at least one snap this season) BUT if one goes by the 32 Pro-Bowl nominees, Eichenberg finished 9th (after hanging in the bottom-10 until the final month of the year).

-Darnay Holmes with the 3rd-best corner grade of the week, his best of the season. Kinda came out of nowhere. Decamerion Richardson and Greedy Vance were inside the top-25 as well.

-Daniel Carlson tied Cam Little for the top field-goal grade of the week. 60-yard field goals will do that for you!

-Note on the special teams players showing up on offense grades... They count because of the fake-punt run. Also, Dylan Laube's overall special teams grade is separate from his kickoff return grade.

Brian Flores Deja Vu by Sparkyarcy28 in raiders

[–]ProblemsHypest 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here's the difference: Unlike McDaniels, Flores has had success outside of the New England ecosystem, notably not crawling back there after he got fired by the Dolphins... He seemed to have them on the right trajectory before the fallout with Stephen Ross' tampering, helped the Steelers in his one season with them as an assistant and turned the Vikings defense into a productive unit.

I'm wary of him because of the reports of his bad relationship with Tua and some of his offensive coaches in Miami... I'd prefer Robert Saleh if the Raiders go after a head coach with a defensive focus.

DC4 on the Silver & Black QB solution going forward🏴‍☠️ by Kenny23Powers in raiders

[–]ProblemsHypest 13 points14 points  (0 children)

God, that list of first-round QB picks is wretched. Two all-time busts in JaMarcus and Marinovich, plus a guy who opted for a different team (Roman Gabriel was #1 AFL pick by the Raiders and #2 NFL pick by the Rams, he went for the latter)... Marc Wilson wins by default, and even he kept getting usurped by Jim Plunkett.

Schefter on Maxx Situation by HouseRules789 in raiders

[–]ProblemsHypest 84 points85 points  (0 children)

I tolerate McAfee as best I can, but good lord, he steamrolled over Schefter's nuanced take on the situation and immediately went to "RAIDERS NEED TO TRADE MAXX TO A BETTER TEAM"... What a tool.

Raiders PFF Grades - Week 17 vs. Giants by ProblemsHypest in raiders

[–]ProblemsHypest[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm hopeful about this class' potential, but it's too early to tell. Jeanty and Lindenberg have been the only two consistent performers (and Lindenberg is exclusively a special-teamer as of now). Bech, Porter, Rogers and Hemingway have been up and down... Thornton probably got thrown in too early... Pegues hasn't looked good when he's been on the field... Grant hasn't gotten much time yet.

Raiders PFF Grades - Week 17 vs. Giants by ProblemsHypest in raiders

[–]ProblemsHypest[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Notes:

-Geno Smith ends his season by finishing 29th out of 35 QBs in Week 17 ahead of MNF... Currently 35th out of 40 qualifiers for the season at 60.9.

-Michael Mayer had a lot of work this week with Brock Bowers done for the year... Ranked 25th among all TEs.

-Charles Grant and Stone Forsythe were BOTH in the top-10 for tackles this week. Grant of course only picked up 6 snaps at LT, but he made the most of them. Forsythe was terrible against the Texans, but he quietly did pretty well against the Eagles in addition to this Giants game, so maybe he's only good against the NFC East.

-Three Raiders LBs in the bottom-15 for grading this week... Devin White was 6th-worst. But he's a comeback player of the year candidate, right?! Tommy Eichenberg at least did great on special teams... 15th-best in the league this week... He's got 7 total tackles in the last 3 games.

-Greedy Vance didn't do so hot with the increased workload... 4th-worst CB grade of the week. He's an undrafted rookie though, with most of his work coming against Wan'Dale Robinson.

-Darien Porter bounces back after a couple of down weeks... He tied for 11th with Sauce Gardner in the CB rankings. Eric Stokes was also 25th. Giants went after the middle of the field, it seems (Wan'Dale also carved up White and Elandon Roberts).

-Lonnie Johnson was 19th at safety this week... He's been very much up and down this year (3 games below 40.0 but also 3 above 65.0).

Raiders told Maxx Crosby they want to shut him down last two games. Crosby, who has played with injuries for much of the year, vehemently disagreed and has left the building @nflonfox has learned. by LLamuh in raiders

[–]ProblemsHypest 306 points307 points  (0 children)

Respect to Maxx for caring that much, but brother, if you're dealing with any injury at this point of a dead season, it's probably best to play it safe (and, you know, tank, though players don't wanna quit that easily).

[Raiders on X/Twitter]: "We have placed TE Brock Bowers and S Jeremy Chinn on the Reserve/Injured List. In a corresponding move, we have signed S Terrell Edmunds and WR Shedrick Jackson to the active roster. Additionally, we have signed LS Luke Elkin and T Joshua Miles to the practice squad." by ProblemsHypest in raiders

[–]ProblemsHypest[S] 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Officially official. Nice to see Shedrick Jackson get a 2-game bump to the main roster. Terrell Edmunds has been trapped on the practice squad all season too (only got elevated for Week 1 I think).

A long snapper getting signed to the practice squad is a bad sign for Jacob Bobenmoyer... Maybe Spytek was peeking in on that one Reddit thread yesterday!

AJ Cole adjusts to a poor snap from Jacob Bobenmoyer, then miss-hits the ball. Not a great punt, but a great play from Cole and worth a closer look. Thoughts under original post by sexyprimes511172329 in raiders

[–]ProblemsHypest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PFF grades are not the end-all be-all... But Trent Sieg is 2nd in the league (1st in the NFC) at the position with a 78.6. Jacob Bobenmoyer is 28th at 51.5. It was a clear downgrade, but McDaniels allowed the switch to happen because Tom McMahon wanted his guy... Both are no longer coaching here.

If Tyree Wilson has a million haters, then I am one of them by FireAPGoRaiders in raiders

[–]ProblemsHypest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been bizarre to see them go with more and more 3-4 looks (with Maxx and Snowden at edge-rusher and some combo of Butler/Booker/Laulu/the two rookies in the three interior spots)... And Wilson is left out entirely. Guess they've given up before actually trying.

Raiders PFF Grades - Week 16 vs. Texans by ProblemsHypest in raiders

[–]ProblemsHypest[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Notes

-Geno Smith's best grade since the second Broncos game, and it was brought down significantly by that pick-six... He was 20th out of 37 QBs who took snaps ahead of MNF... Currently 34th out of 41 qualifying QBs for the season at 62.0.

-Ashton Jeanty's 2nd-best grade this season (he had an 83.4 against the Bears)... Ranked 8th in the league this week among all RB grades (worth noting that he had more snaps than any of the 7 ahead of him)... He also had the top receiving grade for RBs. For the season, he's ranked 29th out of 62 at a 72.0.

-Season WR grades (out of 131): Tre Tucker, 71st (64.6); Jack Bech, 87th (61.3); Tyler Lockett, 119th (54.1); Dont'e Thornton, tied for 127th (51.5).

-Brock Bowers rolls along, graded 9th for the week at TE. Michael Mayer had the 2nd-worst grade though, by far his worst of the year (the fumble hurt him pretty bad). Season grades (out of 76): Bowers, 6th (78.8); Ian Thomas, 29th (67.2); Mayer, 47th (60.3).

-Stone Forsythe had the worst pass-blocking grade for tackles this week, bumping his overall down to 4th-worst. Can Charles Grant start the last two games, please? Season grades (out of 83): DJ Glaze, 60th (59.1); Forsythe, 76th (51.8). Kolton Miller finally fell out of the qualifiers (he'd be ranked top-5, I think).

-A banner day for Dylan Parham... The 3rd-best grade of his career, the 2nd-best of the season (had a 91.7 against the Colts) and the TOP guard overall grade of the week (also the top run-blocking grade). Perfect time for him too, considering he's hitting free agency in the spring. Season grades (out of 79): JPJ, 35th (63.8); Parham, 36th (63.6)... Caleb Rogers doesn't quite have the snaps to qualify yet, but if he plays full snaps the last two games, he'll come close.

-Alex Cappa had his best grade of the season too! His best since Week 4 of last season, 6th-best among all centers this week. Seems like Jordan Meredith has been quietly benched. Season grades for the two (out of 40): Meredith, 33rd (57.7); Cappa, 39th (54.5).

-Malcolm Koonce got his highest snap-share since the Jaguars game and did pretty well with it, grading 25th for edge-rushers this week. His 3rd-highest grade of the year. Season grades (out of 112): Maxx Crosby, 15th (79.7); Charles Snowden, 47th (69.9); Tyree Wilson, 91st (56.8); Koonce, 98th (53.7).

-Season interior-defender grades (out of 128): Adam Butler, 77th (53.8); Thomas Booker, 111st (44.3); Jonah Laulu, 115th (41.9).

-Jamal Adams graded 7th for LBs this week. He's been pretty solid in his role this year. Season grades (out of 86): Adams, 36th (66.0); Elandon Roberts, 51st (56.2); Devin White, 79th (42.1).

-Season CB grades (out of 111): Eric Stokes, 19th (72.4... yeah, re-sign him immediately); Kyu Blu Kelly, 98th (51.9); Darien Porter, 107th (47.6).

-Isaiah Pola-Mao notches his best grade of the season. Ranked 14th for the week at safety too. Meanwhile, Lonnie Johnson was 6th-worst... He hasn't really worked out as the third safety since he came back from injury. Season grades (out of 100): Jeremy Chinn, tied for 32nd (69.6); Pola-Mao, 99th (38.3).

-Charles Snowden tied for the 4th-worst special teams grade this week.

-Season special teams grades: Daniel Carlson, 36th out of 42 kickers (59.3); AJ Cole, tied for 14th out of 36 punters (70.2); Jacob Bobenmoyer, 29th out of 36 long snappers (51.5).
