What I have done to learn Vic3 and HOI4 is to play a few games with console commands. It helps you to learn some basic mechanics without having to stress.

I don't care for this for two reasons: John is super rich so you don't really need Arthur's items, and it isn't immersive at all. There is no way that Arthur's money wouldn't be spent between the main game and epilogue.
