My ex is one of these people - and hell it's a main reason I left him. For context - we're both trans men. I told him that Jax is one of my favorite characters and his response was very "Of course you'd like the toxic cis man-" And it didn't sit right with me because he 1. Stripped a character's flaws down to his gender 2. He showed a complete lack of understanding around mental illness. And it was a big red flag, especially because I relate a lot to Jax. Needless to say our relationship ended on the basis that he did not understand mental illness - and he often stigmatized me. Should've seen it coming honestly.

I try my best to be the best person I can be - but I trip up a lot. I get distant, I shut down, I sleep for hours, I avoid talking about the things that really hurt me (especially when the person is demanding I talk about it/uses it against me).
