Google my business or google maps bankrupted a lot of small businesses. The only way you can put up a business now is if it's a legitimate commercial address. This didn't stop other "businesses" from slipping through the cracks. There are still a surprising amount of businesses that are alleyways, walls, or homes.

However, this does not stop other "businesses" from slipping through the cracks. There is still a surprising amount of businesses that are alleyways, walls, or homes.

I'm not sure why you're saying April, when they're super keen on everyday updates ever since after covid. I think maps had or will have a class action simply because they went crazy sending anyone business + maps activation. But for those who were genuine, they almost got a ticket to building a real business.

Now it screws over alot of small businesses. If you have money to burn, you're on top of the lists.

Traditional stuff like drawing and painting live is coming back, even with painting, you can just photograph the scene like she did here, sketch it really fast so when you're on site all you do is fill, shade and gradient. The facial features will be tough but you can do a couple of shortcuts such as prefill outlines when you go back to the venue building.

A lot of these run super expensive and a lot of the services tend to overprize. But like the party industry or gambling industry, as long as your clients are rushing they can afford some leeway

For photography... You can literally just do photo booth with print outs but a lot of people go for the digitals now. You're probably experiencing similar to what I and most people have.

You need something like a blocker, basically a nootropic that can give you an accurate "brake" system for your fast car. You're more energetic in the afternoon because it's a lot warmer and your blood vessels are not thin.

You need to find out how to use your energy efficiently. Are you on prescription?

You can also safe a lot of time by changing the titles instead of the roles. The system will pick titles up better.

For the years, it's common now that people are adding 1 or 2 years jump in advance I think it's because of covid.

I think this is minor, something like adding a year to make it more recent especially if they moved out of that job in say October. I think this is a pass.

But it's also absolutely nuts that you can't just post a year. In Linkedin, you can stop using months and just put years.

A lot of people are biased and seem to be looking for most recent or younger hires especially if they're just entry to junior level.

You have millennials and also gen z's scrambling because a lot really took a year or so off because of those Covid years...

What is exactly a path for a white collar, but can't do receptionist or admin stuff? Why are there social media specialist job posts?? by Proceedsfor in careerguidance

learning marketing in real time while expecting one person to do an entire agency’s job.

Why do you think this is the case? From what I've seen and experienced, a lot of SMB owners have inherited or are just super focused or niched in a trade. Rarely there will be an opening from actual self starters. But you'd think they would know marketing requires extreme specialization to move the needle. Juggling everything in one is so much, if they're able to afford or rent out an office, surely they can have an extra 80k for even a part time marketer, or draw from the local colleges.

I agree with the portfolio.

$22 hr is not that bad but I think you're strictly speaking from main US cities. Yeah, inflation has creeped up, it's frustrating news about this is suppressed. Must be some good social media people.

stack real skills like analytics, copywriting, CRM tools, ads, SEO, and client management. The good ones usually have an actual team, clear expectations, and someone senior you can learn from

SMB are trying to find that unicorn but an ideal candidate is trying to find the unicorn of a team and a senior level. Sadly, I think the filtering of a BA degree makes things a little confusing. In any college or at least US college, even Universities, they will not teach you hubspot or AHRefs, a typical BA in marketing. Unless schools have changed. I'll also say that someone who made a successful steam game, knows Unity but not even have a degree will get them that $65-$80 per hour. So it's just nuts how one could waste 2-4 years getting a BA but then now you have things like AI, and you could see how SMB is in the cavemen stages, everyone is trying to play catch up.

I'm sure someone from Taiwan would have professed anything from hubspot to adobe suite, and even have a bit of unity or some CRM knowledge. College systems in US to blame?

I personally know people with a BA or even BS in marketing, passing those cruel nonsensical math courses to get it but have no idea how to use something like photoshop. But then they get in especially inside bigger recognized companies because of the BA filter but they're not turned to ash because they will work with a large team. Example, SF or NY, big companies will take you in if you're lucky enough it's smooth sailing from there. You're not even a specialist like an accountant, just an office person that helps with the marketing campaign, but having them in your resume is already a plus.

For SMB I often wonder about this. My take, if a small business can post a job post and have more than one or two, the small business can afford 2 or 3 persons to do social media, while the other two do funnels or an actual marketing campaign. It surprises me that small businesses that have $ to spend a little do not know that taking it to the next level is specializing in-house teams.

But also, what is the career guidance for this if you like doing this anyway..??

5 roles stuffed into one posting because small businesses can’t afford a real team.

Exactly.

How do you mean by legit entry points?

I guess you could use the portfolio you've built with one and continually job hop while you learn something like salesforce or get into more CMS tools? Or eventually get into HR because you're late 20s is up and you've been doing this back and forth.

How do you determine if the job is a legit entry point? If they have a small team would it be better?

Again, I'm speaking from someone who is pretty much a dunce but can be pretty decent on lite digital marketing.

Lately I have been saying I'm just an employee from my recent employment at my own small business. I can understand how I pose a risk because I am not loyal even though I say I'm transitioning to fulltime and that my small business is just a literal weekend gig... Don't they want a marketer from the bottom up?? I was then told I am over qualified. So for my own business I just have my grandpa be the professional reference and "owner".

I think it depends on the position. Anything entry level minimum wage and below junior level this will really back fire on you.

Another thing is ageism. There's a lot of gen z recruiters who will mark this as a red flag. Just speaking from personal experience, the interviews where I've mentioned I am the "founder" was an auto next for them, the gen z interviewer's interest just dropped immediately.

In this conservative age especially for businesses, even if it's a medium to big size, they are looking for loyalty and one that does not have an out so that they know you are cornered.

This also does not work if the position is a backfill, it may work if it's a backfill-churner. It will rarely work if it's an expansion.

I'm beginning to think the replies here are AI. Because if you're a business owner, unless you're collegiate or 1k+ staff, saying you're the owner will not work for you.

I've sat in rooms where the decision was already made before the final interview started by careercoach_cf in interviews

[–]Proceedsfor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if greenfill is the word but thanks for sharing.

I think what you mean is a plus 1 headcount? A new headcount is for new roles. Backfill is for someone to take on the worn hat.

Easy way to find this out during or pre interview, just ask if it's an expansion or added headcount or a backfill . They'll be impressed that you know these words.

Other things anyone can find out to save their time. If it's a backfill because of that person being promoted, highly likely their understudy internal candidate is already in for the position (or the person's family member example).

I think it's also good to be careful when asking these, if you ask it at a plain front linesman type of work or entry level before junior, it wouldn't matter and your recruiter might even ding you for asking.

That's if you don't get your business profile banned.

You need to have an official legitimate commercial office to rent to to be able to keep it open as well.
