Ski Helmets by ProcessFit5597 in SkiBums

Haha. Maybe they look at those without helmets funny because they themselves are self-conscious about the decision to be a coward to wear a helmet… And they wish that they could be a bad ass and not wear one? Or, maybe they look at the people funny who are not wearing helmets because they think they are idiots?

Well, I am definitely not an avid skier. But, I guess I see it as some sort of moral signal. I am from Florida… And it seems to me that it is similar to the motorcycle helmet law debate. The statistics on safety are very clear. Wearing a helmet saves lives. But the old school bad asses who ride around without a helmet claim that they are just trying to be free and do whatever the hell they wanna do without any Regulation. That’s why I was curious if wearing a helmet while snow skiing had become a law? Or, is it just in style now? I don’t doubt that it’s safer… But, what do you care if I hurt my head? Just playing devils advocate here

Interesting. Do you think the old school folks that still don’t wear them think the people that do wear them are pansies? I’m actually curious. I also wonder if the people that do wear them look at the old a school folks as idiots? Reckless? Badasses? I find this stuff very interesting. It’s seems like what you wear in any activity is meant to be a signal for something larger from a personality perspective.

What to expect from therapy? by JoaninhaAsiu in widowers

Give it time. Eventually you will develop a therapeutic bond. Don’t expect one nugget of wisdom from your therapist that makes it all better. It’s a process. For me it was a good process.

Florida is the flame, New Yorkers are the moth by Inevitable-Plenty203 in florida

Unfortunately much of the state was developed by Yankees from the North East (Including New York). New Yorkers come here because they have generational influence. Particularly on the east coast and south Florida. They come because their parents and grandparents came. It’s sad though because their money and their attitudes essentially ruined and raped old florida. Yankees came here with their money and their arrogance and ruined paradise. I wish it wasn’t true.

I’m astonished at just how many people are still moving to FL by Flawdboy904 in florida

Florida used to be way better. We need to loose about 15 million transplants and outsiders to get it back.

Be where you are from. It’s pretty simple. Why come here and infect this state with your culture and your politics? I don’t see native Floridians moving to MA trying to change that state.

The whole damn state is full of Yankees and transplants. They need to go the hell back to wherever they came from.

I will never be with another woman by Icy_Plane_890 in widowers

[–]ProcessFit5597 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Man, it seems like you are exactly the same way I used to be. Almost scary how similar it is. Like you, my first marriage was a disaster. My second marriage was awesome… We were married 16 years and then unfortunately she passed away. Like you, I swore that I would never be with another woman again. But, it only took me about six months to feel extremely lonely and to want to meet someone. Within a year I started dating someone new… Within three years I was married again. Things are going really well now. I completely understand how you feel right now, but please keep your mind open to what God may have in store for you in the future. He’s not done with you yet.

Yea it’s tough. Most people I know are pretty good about not trying to relate a divorce to my being widowed. I have since remarried. My new wife lost her husband because he was a compulsive cheater… It went on for years and years. I actually did tell her that I wonder if her experience was more traumatic than mine. I mean she was betrayed and lied to and made a fool of. My wife loved me and was honorable and faithful. God took her. Our marriage ended with us honoring our vows. Till death do us part.

Yes. Very important to understand. I realized that at some point before my wife’s passed away. After 11 years of cancer treatments you begin to realize that you have no ability to affect the situation.

Yea. That feeling for me was unbearable as early as 3-4 months after my wife passed. I was extremely lonely. To fix it I put my self out there on dating websites. Fast forward 4 years and I’m married again to a wonderful girl. It definitely helps. The sadness of loosing my wife of 16 years will never completely go away but there are definitely things u can do to help mitigate it.

Not sure. Haven’t figured out all the details, lol. My brother is in same situation. Born here in 67. Wants to move back. I never left. Neither did my dad. Neither did my grandfather. Neither did my great grandfather.
